Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative

 Hmmmmmm....

TRIGGER WARNING ALERT......

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
THE BABY NO ONE WANTS.

. This might be one of the most outrageous chronicles you’ll ever read. First, in order to shorten it as much as possible, I’ll highlight this.
Case: R#pe of a minor
Victim: 12 year old female
Perpetrator: Married man with 2 wives and 6 kids
Mediator: Medical doctor in a separated marriage but with no kids.

My neighbor had some persons move in with her a couple of weeks ago. One of them an extremely young child with a pregnancy. I found the sight of an obvious kid with a protruding stomach troubling but I make it a rule to mind my business so I didn’t ask my neighbor for a backstory. I only mentioned my observation to my wife that our neighbor has a pregnant child staying with her and something must have definitely gone wrong for a child to be in that state. Of course the girl was mostly staying indoors, so my wife never got to set eyes on her to collaborate what I said.

I embarked on a business trip and in my absence my neighbor came to look for me. She was seeking permission from me so that my wife could come help her with a new born baby. As I couldn’t be reached immediately, my wife assented and what she was told as she was helping out was very shocking.

Apparently, the girl (let’s call her Anita) was sent by her mom with her phone to go get some charge since the neighbor had his generator on. The man over-powered and r#ped Anita. She returned home, tears in her eyes, blood stained clothes on her body. Upon her mom’s inquiry, Anita revealed that it was their neighbor who raped her. Other neighbors were quickly mobilized and the rapist was caught as he was attempting to exit the compound.

Anita was taken to the hospital, tests were carried out to verify the incidence of rape, a police report was filed and the rapist detained. Her womb was flushed, emergency contraceptives provided and PEP medication made available out of an abundance of caution. But things took a darker turn from there.

Six months later, Anita started displaying pregnancy symptoms. She was taken to the hospital and scans showed she was 6 months and 2 weeks pregnant. Before then, 3 pregnancy tests had all turned up negative. Threatening fire and brimstone, her dad made it known that a ‘bastard’ would not be accommodated in his home. This became something of a song for the remaining weeks left for Anita to be due.

How Anita and her mom ended up in my neighbor’s house isn’t something I’ve inquired about. On the very day Anita turned 13, she gave birth to 2 twin boys. One was lost unfortunately. Initially Anita mentioned that she was going to keep her child and not give it out. Her mom and her father were having none of it. Understandably, what does a 13 year old know about raising and providing for a baby? Anita’s dad is a brick layer, her mom has no income source.

They were even defaulting on the rent for 2 years. So taking care of a child that came the way it did was always going to be a hard sell. Anita’s mom has refused to even carry the baby in her arms till this very moment. The baby sleeps with my neighbor, Anita and her mom sleep in a separate room. They are doing everything they can to not be attached to the baby. I suspect my neighbor wants to be given the baby since she has been buying formula for the child and everything a new born needs (She hasn’t been able to have kids of her own). Anita has refused to breastfeed the child. My wife has been the one bathing and dressing the baby twice daily and even taking the child for vaccination.

I have a fair bit of reputation of being an ass and would want to protect that. I do however realize that there is a thin line between being an ass and been a villain. My wife’s continued involvement with that child may become something of an issue later I suspect. This family may very well abandon this child here and that certainly won’t fly with me. But if I stop her from having anything to do with the child, I come off looking like the devil.

The rapist has been in prison all this while and his case should be far gone by now. But there is a bit of a hold-up. Anita’s father has refused to allow her go testify. Where there is no victim’s testimony, the grounds for conviction becomes very shaky so the rapist may very well walk. The father’s position is that he wants to keep his daughter away from any stigma at all. The matter has been kept very secretive, even family members are not aware.

Anita’s father has said that he will be coming over the next few days to carry his wife and daughter. He is still standing his ground that the baby will not follow them home. Every plea has been of no effect. Fears are being expressed that if this family is allowed to go with this child, they may dump this baby somewhere. I have 3 of mine and have sworn off having any again so I can’t adopt him. My neighbor that seemed open to adopting the baby previously, is now having cold feet. She is afraid that Anita may come for the child tomorrow and she’ll have no choice but to give the child back. I know nothing about adoption laws in Nigeria so I had nothing to tell her.

A wealthy man in my area is offering to adopt the child but I don’t think that is something that can be done in a few days. Anita’s dad will be here on Sunday to take them back home. He still doesn’t want to see the baby. I don’t know how this will play out. His family cannot be kept away from him and yet, he can’t be forced to welcome a grand-child he doesn’t want to. My wife and kids will proceed on a bit of vacation over the weekend, so she will not even be around to keep taking care of the child(If you say I forced the vacation, you may be right). If she stays around, I might be left with a baby I never asked for.

The next few weeks will be very interesting. I’ll keep the SDK universe updated.

    1. So sorry about your experience 15:51.
      Dear Poster,
The baby should be taken to the appropriate quarters for proper adoption. It is very obvious the father of Anita does not want to take legal action against the rapids but one thing is sure, he cannot eat his cake and still have it, the baby must be handed over to the government or registered orphanage home.

Dear Poster, I don't even know what to say to you. Thank you for allowing your wife to be of help.

However, what exactly are you afraid of. That baby didn't ask to be born the baby has found himself in an unfortunate circumstance he had nothing to do with.

What should we do? Throw the baby away? Does it matter who claims the baby tomorrow? As long as the baby is kept alive and thriving I think that is the first thing.
2ndly, it may come with a price but here is the thing, you will never lack.yes the baby came out of rape but each child has their star and destiny. I suggest between you and the lady that took them in to give this baby a home pls.

The truth is you don't know tomorrow.
Life is a risk, you can take the risk and hope everything turns out well for you and the baby.

    All the best.

    1. Take the child to the authorities
Anybody that wants to adopt the child should follow the legal route

  3. There should be law that would make the government pick up rape cases automatically once reported, something like overriding even the victim's right to withdraw the case once proven.

    1. It’s already the law
It’s just a case without a witness is always tougher

But that said this shouldn’t be hard as there is dna evidence with the birth of the child and what he did is statutory rape where consent is irrelevant

  6. Men can sometimes be the worst damn thing to happen to this planet. What is there to desire in a 12 yr old child? There is no greater hell than seeing the wickedness on earth.

May Anita receive therapy. I just pray that she is able to heal from this horrible and tragic episode in her life. God, how long?🤦🏾‍♀️

  11. You write so well I must say. They should allow them do whatever they want with the child, because they will definitely be back for that child in a few years and threatening fire and brom stone if the child is not released to them.

  15. A child whose mother abandoned after finding out that it belonged to another man in the compound.......this happened in 1971

Poor child! My parents in their benevolence, took the baby in and raised her. We never knew that she wasn't our biological sibling until we became adults. This sibling was everything negative, dark...despite the fact that she had more and was treated better...all my parents wanted was for this child to be independent and successful in future but "book e no go read, handwork, e no gree learn"...I lf we had those wasted opportunities, we would have bn better off.

Because of all the pains caused, dad did not include this child in his will and today has dragged my mum to court.

You see this baby may do better and turn out great, but past experiences may deter ppl from helping. I pray and hope that the child is adopted and turn out well IJN
