Chronicle Of A Person Living With A Positive Status

Stigmatisation among positive living people. Do you know even hiv positive people stigmatise each other too?

Sometime ago, I was chatting with a woman I met at the center and she was telling how she saw one of her children's school teacher at the center, she said she was shocked that the school shouldn't employ such because he might not be careful with the children bla bla, that she's planning to report to the school anonymously.

I asked her if any of her kids are positive, she said no, and I asked if the teacher is closer to her kids than her? If you didn't infect your kids how could a teacher that merely have contact with them infection them unless there's issue of molestation.

I read on Facebook how a man was sacked by a company for testing positive to hiv and the company isn't a food production company, not as if he poses any danger with his status.

Do you think hiv positive people shouldn't be working in a certain work environment?
Few years ago,I applied for a job at a small micro finance and I passed their interview but we were asked to run medical tests.

I was scared and I couldn't reject the job because it was one of my husband's family friend that helped me secured the job and if I failed medicals this woman will want to find out why and she's the last person I will want her to know my status.

we were giving letter to go to a particular hospital for the test, hubby and I were confused on what to do because we really stressed to get the job , we went to the hospital and the lab attendant was not ready to disclose the test we were to run and I had to tell him it's against the hospital policy to run a test without telling the patient, he later told us the names of the tests of which hiv is one of the test.

Hmmm, I had to come out clean and the guy said he will leave out hiv testing for me cos he wouldn't want to implicate himself which is very understandable, he pretended as if he omitted the test and thank God the employers didn't raise issue and was given the employment though I couldn't work there for long due to the harsh job environment, so my husband asked me to quit the job.

Since then I've been so scared of applying for a job so I won't have to expose my status.

  4. Poster I am not discriminating but I feel there are some jobs that are too sensitive especially working with children at a stage in my life I stopped carrying babies or toddlers because I was unknowingly infected with herpes and it was all over my body because my immune system was low at that time. A teacher will not be careful as you the mom.A lot of people are wicked.
