In a video clip of an interview on social media, the British politician said she was meant to cut the grass and wash the toilet with no running water while at Federal Government Girls School, Sagamu.
“I went to a secondary school, it was called a federal government girls school in a place called Sagamu.
And that was like being in prison when I tell the stories about using a machete and having to fetch buckets of water.
And that was the first time that I was away from home, away from my family. It’s a federal boarding school. And it was a dormitory with about 150 [girls] I think, 20 to 30 in a room. And there were, you know, six rooms.
The machete was for cutting the grass. Well, because, who else is going to cut the grass?
This is a federal school where, this old grammar school system sort of fading out, and everyone who passed an exam and got a certain school, got to go to a federal school.
And this was more socialism. So they sprinkled people around. They didn’t want one school getting all the best results. They would mix people about so you could end up getting sent thousands of miles away to a boarding school, you know, at the extreme end of the country.
So I was lucky. I didn’t get sent too far away, but I was very far from home. I’d never been away from home before, and it was like Lord of the Flies, you know, the students were in control.
We needed to look after the school grounds. So using a machete, having to clean toilets with no running water. I’m not going to go into the description of that,” she stated.
Kemi has constantly complained about Nigeria and she recently said she doesn’t want to identify with the country of her birth.

DeleteShe will make a post at 12 noon. Comments will appear at 5pm at dusk.
Buhahaha
This is a typical Nigerian federal government boarding of those days, don't know if people still use hoes and Cutlass in schools these days.I don't see any lie there, except embarrassment because of her audience
ReplyDeletePlease don't mind her...That is my Alma Mater....And her smear campaign failed woefully.....We use to cut grass so yeah it's all part of character formation...Let her rest
DeleteBut what she said was the truth. It’s just that some of us adjusted to it and actually took great memories away from the place while others didn’t.
Delete"Country of her birth"? She wasn't born in Nigeria! She was born to Nigerian parents who thought at the time that they were doing her good, thus sent her back to school in Nigeria to know her 'roots' now my belief is that this lady was traumatised by her experience in Nigeria, some have good experiences but others, not so good! Kemi is suffering from Childhood trauma!!
ReplyDeleteShe needs to see a therapist for good processing, all these ramblings ain't going to help.
DeleteMy secondary school was worse.
ReplyDeletepoor understanding and even at that she should have researched into the workings of things rather than sounding obtuse even though I knows she is traumatized.
ReplyDelete1. Kids are not sprinkled so a school can not have a crop of best students. Kids write to common entrance like Jamb, they meet a cut off score and get sent to either a school of their first or second choice.
2. Kids had cutlass and hoes, you are meant to keep your immediate environment clean, that's a basic life skill. There are handy men that usually cut the bushes, but the immediate environment, patches of grass around your hostel are meant to be kept clean by you after the handy men have done their bit. If it gets so overgrown the handyman are called in.
3. Why should anyone be embarrassed with using a machete though? The so called people she is reporting to also use machete and hoes for yard work. It's not all corners of one's yard a lawn mower would do a great job
Just so we all know, this lady is noted to be born in the UK as per wiki, many kids that get sent to Nigeria to school when born abroad are noted to be the naughty ones that the expect the supposed method of training will set straight there ways.
She is traumatized, which I understand but maybe she needs to see a therapist to adequately process all these rather than making interviews every 3 market days.
The interviewer despite being an oyinbo man did better than her, didn't get carried away by her Rhetoric's but asked relevant questions ,but abeg help ask her has she been to prison before to do such comparison,
DeleteIn a place called Sagamu?

DeleteSagamu that is along the road, what if they took her to a school further away?
Please don't mind her....She only JSS1 there....Her poor attempt to smear my Alma Mater failed woefully....

ReplyDeleteIs it the same Federal Government girls college (FGGC), that was in vogue back in the day and every girl’s dream that she is talking about like this?
ReplyDeleteThis same FGGC colleges that some people still brag about going, even after 40 years of graduation. Anyway, one man meet, another man poison.
