NEW COLUMN ALERT

NOTORIOUS FOR JESUS (NFJ)

MY FIRST TIME IN CHURCH AFTER NYSC.

It felt strange walking through those church doors again. Omo! A year away for NYSC had changed me more than I thought. I quietly sat on the fourth row, just like before.
The choir was already singing — new faces, new voices, new fire. Quite a lot has changed.

I could sight my former crush from the distance but a second glance, the infatuation has faded, I met another "Bobo" in camp and we will be taking it to the altar soon; part of why I returned. I want to wed where I was born.

During NYSC, Sundays were unpredictable: muddy boots, camp drills, or lonely devotions.
But here, everything smelled of peace — polish, perfume, and old hymn books.
Pastor’s voice broke through my thoughts: “Sometimes we return stronger.”
I almost smiled. He didn’t know how that hit home. "Yes, my wedding is coming up soon", I agreed with him with a nod.

Service continued, but my mind wandered — to Sokoto sunrises and roadside churches.
Now, I was home, but different. I had seen things.
Felt things. Learned to pray like my life depended on it during my NYSC as a result of series of occurrence that I experienced. Story for another day.

As the offering went round, I gave with gratitude.
Not just money — my time, my story, my faith.
After service, old faces greeted me with hugs and loud laughs.
My mum Sunday school teacher tapped me from behind and said, “Welcome back, corper!”
I just said, “It’s good to be back.”
Y'all wait for the time I'll bring my IV. I mumbled.

You try to return, some people do not return home or return to Church after NYSC........I did but i know so many others who did not return and are doing even better than those of us that returned...I returned out of fear...

Dear Father, I am grateful for the assurance that my body belongs to You and that Satan has no claim over it. I terminate every evil, vicious, and malevolent activity against my body and life. Only Your peace and prosperity reign in and around me, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

  10. Last week was so busy for me. My husband’s friends from Portugal who became my friends by extension, planned a weekend hangout last weekend. They were 7 in number. 2 (a married couple) were already temporarily staying in Zurich, 2 (a couple) drove down from Germany and 3 (a couple and a single man) flew in from Portugal.

We hosted the last 3 in our house and I had to spend the last week making sure the house was spick and span. Also had to prepare an unused guest room. Thankfully we have a large sofa (bed) for the single guy.

Oyibo people can waka ehn. I am still recovering from all the waka they made me do (even though I only joined them for two days).

Saturday evening, I gathered everyone in our home for a dinner of fried rice, salad, plantain and chicken (ah swear, it was a hit), no empty plates at all and then we played a game of UNO deep into the night (never had this much fun since we moved from Portugal)

The last event was yesterday, a trip to the Rhine waterfalls in Switzerland! Absolutely beauty!!!!!

Last couple left here will be leaving back to Portugal this evening.

Was an eventful week for us!

I’m back fully now tho, for the next few days before we’ll 🀷🏾‍♀️🀷🏾‍♀️🀷🏾‍♀️🀷🏾‍♀️

  39. Lately I have been having this mix feelings about my decision to relocate to Lagos Island, meanwhile accommodation already arranged, it seems that something deeper is holding me back. Perhaps it's the comfort and familiarity of my current environment in Ota, where i feel safe and happy.

This inner conflict is challenging, especially knowing that i love Lagos and also making bigger connections accordingly to wify.It could be fear of the unknown, uncertainty about the transition, or simply the enjoyment i derive from my current situation that makes taking the leap feel intimidating.

I'm like giving myself time to reflect on what specifically draws me to Lagos.Am considering what I miss about Ota, and weigh those feelings against the excitement of new experiences in Lagos. I just feel bringing this here about these feelings might also help clarify my emotions.

However my office, shops and farm still remain here in Ota, but I intend to have a branch at the island and as well reside there permanently.

    Good day people...✌️
