Reality TV Star Adekunle Questions Lack Of Opportunities For BBNaija Stars‎ After The Show

Reality TV star Adekunle Olopade has expressed concern over the lack of opportunities for Big Brother Naija stars. He said that despite BBN being Africa’s biggest reality show, Nigeria has no real reality TV culture, leaving many ex-housemates without a clear path after the show.

He wrote:
‎ "Something has been on my mind for years now, but, I think I’m at a point where I can finally let it out.
‎If actors act
‎and content creators create,
‎and musicians sing and streamers stream,
‎What exactly do reality tv stars do? (after the show).
‎You know what?
‎Let me double down and say that BBN is the biggest reality tv show in Africa, but somehow, Nigeria does not have a Reality TV culture - there’s almost no certain success path after the show and most of the reality stars suffer for this. Why is that ?"

  1. It's an added advantage for the participants to have something doing on their own before the show so they can easily go back to it.

Also, I believe some of them, after leaving the show, now see themselves as superstars that can't do just any decent job to get by, putting unnecessary pressure on themselves to impress.

  2. TV reality platform is an opportunity to showcase yourself and skills if not forgetting, businesses(if any). If you have nothing before going onto any platform, sadly, you fall i to the category of struggling post show. The show helps you enhance what you have built not hand you a business from nowhere.

Producers of reality shows encourages contestants to talk about their businesses during the show and post the show, the contestants are asked to drive Traffic and attention to the show as it airs.

Just be smart when you get the opportunity to sell yourself.

  3. BBN is a platform to showcase your skills and talents so before you audition, have a skill to market.
    Na free advertisement.
One lady can’t remember her name was a tailor before she came on the show, now she has a fashion house.
Not everybody is will be an actor.
A-list Producers no longer tolerate mediocre acting just because you’re a BBN star.

  5. The platform given to them by the show is to enable them to carve a niche for themselves after being exposed to a wider audience.

  7. Whose job is it to create the opportunities for ex housemates? The platform has given them ebough visibility, whatever they do with it is entirely up to them.

  8. Getting a proper job or business is the means to survival. Being a star or a celebrity doesn't pay bills. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

  9. The show is not an institution of learning or training. Why should opportunities exist for them because they took themselves on self discovery or public discovery journeys? Miracle went to school and is today a pilot. Bisola leveraged on her publicity and in my opinion is easily the most diverse actress in Nigeria today. Opportunities are not even handed to first class graduates let alone ‘waka passes’
