Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that Nigerians owe no one an apology for seeking assistance from the international community to tackle the country’s persistent insecurity, stressing that lives are being lost daily regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. Speaking on Friday night in Jos, Obasanjo urged the Nigerian government to urgently deploy modern technology to curb killings.

The Kano State Executive Council has called for the immediate investigation and arrest of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over what it described as “inciting and reckless” comments on the security situation in the state. This followed deliberations at the council’s 34th Executive Meeting held at the Government House, Kano.

 Three farmers have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack by suspected armed herders in Gilim Ashi village, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. Residents identified the victims as Ioryer Kwaghkaha, Ayila Atsar, and one yet-to-be-identified farmer.

 A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately release 27 houses wrongly seized by the commission. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik issued the order while giving a judgment in a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/348/2025 filed by the EFCC.

 The National Executive Council, NEC, of Labour Party has reaffirmed the leadership elected at its 2024 National Convention in Nnewi, Anambra, and approved key organisational decisions. This was made known in a resolution jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, Mr Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, respectively, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

 All military personnel attached to the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where 26 schoolgirls were abducted, are currently facing interrogation at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja. This followed allegations that the soldiers withdrew from the school before the attack.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described the recent military takeover in Guinea Bissau as more painful to him than his loss to former President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.  A former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, on Friday stated that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has not left the party. Speaking to journalists after the party’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, which was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Baba-Ahmed dismissed reports suggesting that Obi had dumped the LP.
