  2. Nnamdi Kanu is just one Igboman and doesn't represent everyone of the Igbos character-wise.Even Igbos are condemning his arrogance in Court, what makes that one think everyone behaves like Nnamdi Kanu?

  4. Calling the legal profession in Nigeria useless is insensitive and thoughtless. The law is not built on emotions or noise. It works with facts, evidence and procedure. Whether anyone likes the outcome or not, a court can only act on what is before it.

In the matter involving Nnamdi Kanu, the issues have always been around allegations of terrorism, incitement and security threats attributed to the IPOB movement. These are offences that carry very serious penalties under Nigerian law. When someone is charged with offences of that nature, the court does not rely on sentiments. It relies on evidence presented before it, including documentary materials, witness testimonies and video recordings that the prosecution tendered as part of their case.

What made the situation even more complicated was his own decision to dismiss his legal team at some point and attempt to represent himself. That was a strategic mistake. It should never have been done. Make no mistake about this.

  6. Let me tell you.

Criminal litigation is not ordinary argument. It is not Facebook debate and hot takes. Be mindful of that. It involves strict procedural rules, evidential burdens, objections, admissibility tests and technical applications of the Terrorism Prevention Act. No one who is not trained in procedural law can navigate that alone, especially in a high-risk criminal trial. That choice weakened his legal protection and placed him at a serious disadvantage.

So the issue is not whether the legal profession is “useless”. The issue is that the law operates by established processes, not by personal feelings. If he had allowed trained counsel to do their job fully, some of the outcomes and strategies might have been different. Insulting an entire profession because you do not understand how the justice system works is unfair. And trying to belittle or insult people who think that Justice Omotosho gave an airtight or sound judgement does not make you intelligent. It only cheapens your argument and exposes your bias. Intelligent people are objective and they do not speak from a place of sentiment or misinformation.

One of the major factors that worked against Nnamdi Kanu was his refusal to enter a defence. I hope you watched the proceedings before you come here to argue?

In criminal trials, the prosecution has the initial burden to present evidence, but once a prima facie case is established, the defendant is expected to respond. By refusing to open his defence, Kanu left the court with only the prosecution’s narrative and exhibits. Courts do not speculate or assume. They rely strictly on what is before them. When the defendant declines to challenge evidence, call witnesses or rebut allegations, the court is left with no counterweight. That silence strengthens the prosecution’s case because unchallenged evidence is often treated as credible unless contradicted. In law, silence equals admittance. When you don't speak, you are telling the court that you are guilty.

Furthermore, his insistence that there was “no valid charge” and his choice to represent himself also placed him at a disadvantage. Criminal procedure is technical. It requires structured responses, legal arguments, objections, cross-examination and strategic presentation of facts. By choosing not to participate in that process, he weakened his own legal protection. The court repeatedly warned him that without a defence, it would be compelled to determine the matter based solely on what the prosecution had tendered. That is exactly what happened. His refusal to defend himself did not nullify the case. It only allowed the court to rely fully on the evidence presented against him, which ultimately contributed to the ruling he received.

    Go and read the proceedings.
Read the facts of the case too. Line upon line, precept upon precept, ruling upon ruling. Stop relying on social media hot takes. Treat yourself to some reading.

Lastly in matters concerning the law, laymen should take a back seat so they do not make a spectacle of themselves through confident ignorance. And no matter how much you think you know the Law, never represent yourself in Court. It is a suicidal attempt. Learn from MNK.
Hopefully for MNK, and Ndi Igbo, the matter will be appealed.
