Soldiers In Benin Republic Reportedly Overthrow President Patrice Talon

Soldiers in Benin Republic announced a military coup, suspending the constitution, dissolving the government led by President Patrice Talon, and closing all borders.

The group, calling itself the Military Committee for Refoundation, declared the takeover on state television, marking the latest in a series of coups across West Africa since 2020.

The coup was led by Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Tigri, who just declared himself as president of the Military Committee for Refoundation on live TV.

This development follows a pattern of political instability in the region, often driven by grievances over corruption and insecurity, as noted in a 2024 analysis by the Council on Foreign Relations.

Your miracle worker is yet to show economic workings o. The place should be a Dubai by now. He has not also set date for elections he will still rig. Why now? Are there no saints the people can vote for?

West Africa is ceding leadership to the East and in a few years, they will be looking for big brother to press money and accommodate failed people from failed states.

Those Nigeria wasted money educating don't recall the 70s and 80s repeating again.

In a bit goes cameroun. I think their fellow comedian in Gambia or so has started calling himself president and putting on suit.

  8. If the literacy rate in a country is 30-50% then the ppl need a new leader. Africans have accepted suffering and the worst kind of existence as normal while the useless leaders buy properties in outside markets for their vacations and retirements. If they get a headache or a cough they hop on a private jet to go somewhere else to get it checked out while citizens die for a lack of $5 to purchase medicine. There are bad leaders the world over but Africans leaders have taken the cake when it comes to not giving a shyt about the ppl they govern. Selling their resources for dirt cheap to their colonial masters, while their citizens die in the desert trying to get into those same countries that they sold their precious gems to or pennies. In some places one man ruling a country for 50 years and ppl still need to shyt in pit and carry water on their heads.....mtsscchhhwwww

  9. Since the recent coup that has been sweeping Africa, other nations yet to be affected have been fortifying themselves. Hence the reason for this failed coup. It unfortunate that those responsible will face the consequences of their actions rapidly.
