ReplyDeleteLet me state this in simple terms for clarity, True maturity involves embracing and accepting that not everyone's going to like or love you back and that is not a representation of your flavor profile, sweetness level, personal value or your worth which is perfectly fine and acceptable.
Let's be real: we weren't exactly put on earth to be everyone's favorite. I mean, do we even have a thumbs up for everyone in our own lives? Do we even like everyone ourselves?
I've learnt the painful truth that no amount of kindness, kind gesture, favor, goodwill or ridiculously generous gift can force someone to like you if they're allergic to kindness in their heart.
I see folks bending, adjusting, conceding, cooperating, accommodating, over pleasing and annoyingly officious just to be liked. It's like they're saying ' Hey, like me, duh!'
All of these cannot force someone's heart to like you, for true regard can only stem from within.
And the thing is, most people can sniff out a desperate person from a mile away and guess what, they'll just take advantage of you. You'll end up hurt and thinking you're unlikable, yikes.
Sometimes people aren't into you because of how you make them feel, maybe YOU'RE JUST TOO MUCH AWESOMENESS or perhaps they're just jealous.
Go where you're the party guest and not where you're the awkward cousin. Go where you're celebrated, not where you just exist.
Remember, the world doesn't need another cookie-cutter conformist. It needs you to be your wonderful self.
Be courageous enough to flaunt your true colors, patient enough to wait for the right folks to high-five you, and strong enough to keep dishing out love and kindness even when it is not reciprocated the way you thought it would.
Your time is precious, spend it with people who make you feel like you're home, support your growth and make you feel seen.
Don't put your life on hold or constantly try to earn the attention and affection of people wey no send you.
Don't settle for being a low priority in someone's life because life's brevity calls for investing in genuine connections, not chasing validation.
Your presence and love are valuable, don't give them to just anyone. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, not energy sapping vampires. Look for relationships that feels like a warm embrace, not a never-ending battle for acceptance.
Match their vibes. If they are giving you space, take a seat and give it right back, if they are playing deaf, perfect your selective hearing because powerful folks don't waste time begging for approval from those who clearly don't approve of themselves. It's about keeping your pride intact and mirroring their behavior, proving you won't beg for scraps from the table when a feast awaits elsewhere, It is called having a backbone and a shred of self-worth.
"Life is a two-way street, not a one-way lane"
Your worth isn't defined by anyone's approval, So tirelessly and constantly trying way too hard to convince anyone of your worth or fit into their picture is EXHAUSTING, DRAINING AND IT DEPLETES YOUR WELL BEING.
Genuine love is freely given, Built on choice and mutual desire. NOT TRYING TOO HARD TO BE LIKED.
THE SOONER YOU REALIZE THAT NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE YOU...THE BETTER OFF YOU'LL BE.
