NAPTIP Rescues 23 Nigerians Trafficked To Thailand For Cybercrimes

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 23 Nigerians who were trafficked to Thailand and forced into cybercrime operations.

According to officials, the victims were lured with promises of legitimate jobs abroad, only to find themselves trapped in criminal “work camps” where they were coerced into online fraud schemes.
Many had their passports seized, their movements restricted, and were threatened with violence if they refused to comply.

NAPTIP confirmed that the rescue followed coordinated intelligence sharing with international partners, leading to the safe evacuation of all 23 victims back to Nigeria. The agency says investigations are ongoing to identify the trafficking network responsible and to track recruiters operating within Nigeria.

The victims are now receiving medical care, counseling, and reintegration support as authorities work to dismantle the syndicate behind the operation.
