The move gives any commissioner who wants to run for office in the 2027 general elections the chance to do so freely, without holding a government position. Governor Zulum thanked the outgoing team for their service and wished them well in their future plans.

Borno State Governor Zulum Dissolves Executive Council And Sacks All Commissioners
On Monday March 30, 2026 Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum announced that he has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect. All commissioners have also been sacked and directed to hand over the affairs of their ministries to the permanent secretaries on or before Friday, 3 April 2026.
