President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reappointed Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC for a new five-year term. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement on Saturday, said the reappointment took effect from Friday, February 27, 2026.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday received former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The Presidency disclosed this in a brief statement accompanied by photographs.

 Nigerians attempting to travel to or from Qatar, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have been stranded following the ongoing United States and Israel war against Iran. The situation has forced carriers, including Air France, Air India, Turkish Airlines, Norwegian, Air Algerie, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Lufthansa to announce mass flight cancellations.

 The Senate has stated that it will complete the amendment of the 1999 Constitution to allow the creation of state police before the end of 2026. The Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, said at the weekend that the upper chamber would immediately resume work on the constitutional review once the plenary reconvenes next week.

Lagos State Police Command has reopened the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at the Otto-Ijanikin axis following a communal clash between youths of Ijanikin and Otto that left one person dead and multiple suspects in custody. In a statement on Saturday signed by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said the expressway, blocked for several hours, was cleared and normalcy restored at about 09:00 am.

 Residents and community leaders in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday buried seven people killed in a recent attack by gunmen in the community. The burial, held at a primary school in Miango, comes barely a week after nine victims of a terror attack in Dorowa Babuje, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, were laid to rest.

 The Senate has dismissed fresh calls by opposition leaders seeking another amendment to the 2026 Electoral Act, insisting that any proposed changes must follow laid down legislative procedures within the National Assembly. The position of the upper chamber followed a press conference in Abuja by leaders of opposition parties, who urged lawmakers to urgently review aspects of the newly signed law.

 Terrorists attacked Inkirmi Iri community in Idon Ward of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State killing one person, injuring four others and abducting 11 residents. The attack reportedly occurred at about 11:37 p.m. Friday, when the assailants stormed the community and opened fire on residents.
