Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Abia state University convocation on March 27, 2026 to unveil a support package for young graduates, promising scholarships, jobs and startup funding aimed at keeping talent in the state and reducing brain drain.

He announced automatic Master’s and PhD scholarships in Nigerian public universities for all first‑class graduates across three convocation sets, with a requirement to serve as Graduate Assistants after NYSC.
Best‑graduating students in each department with at least a 4.25 CGPA will also qualify for the Graduate Assistant pathway.
Otti also revealed that the state will absorb 100 exceptional graduates directly into the civil service, prioritising education, computer science, statistics, medicine and other critical fields and this will happen once they complete NYSC.
He set aside ₦200 million to help up to 100 graduates turn strong business ideas into real companies, focusing on agriculture, ICT and clean energy, with applicants required to submit scalable proposals by email.

DeleteAbia State to the world!
10:12 Silicon Valley started as someone's or some people's altruistic idea.
As Governor Otti starts and consolidates this, the private sector and foreign investors could sustain it.
If Nigeria has 10 governors with similar vision like Governor Alex Otti, the rest of the country will be challenged to sit up.
I understand your pessimism and acknowledge that Nigeria has been in the grip of wicked criminal rulers. Hopefully, something would give so that Nigeria could be renegotiated.
Everything is not doom and gloom.
