Man Overpowers Armed Robbers Who Ambushed Him And Unalifes One Of Them...

On Friday, March 6, 2026, around 3:00 p.m, David Emmanuel Adebayo a bizman became the target of armed robbers in Minna, Niger State.

He had withdrawn a huge sum of money from the bank earlier that afternoon and he left the bank and stopped at a Restaurant along the road to buy food.

The robbers trailed him from the bank to the restaurant and confronted him. They fired warning shots into the air to scare people away, and took the money and Toyota Corolla.
In an incredible act of self-defense, Mr Adebayo fought back and overpowered one of the thieves.....He snatched the rifle from him, and fired, and the bullet hit one of the thieves (reports say he was shot in the forehead or sustained fatal injuries).

The other thieves panicked and tried to escape but their getaway car wouldn't start. They abandoned it and fled in Adebayo's car with the stolen money.

Police responded quickly. Officers, including the DPO from Tudun-Wada station and DC Operations, secured the scene, recovered the suspects' abandoned vehicle and took it to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Minna for investigation.
Authorities are using CCTV footage from the area and banks to track the other suspects, and a manhunt is ongoing.

The victim spoke to local media about the ordeal, and said one of the thieves approached him pretending to be a policeman before revealing he was a thief.

  12. It’s not in all cases of robbery after huge withdrawal that has an insider connivance. Some robbers go to banks for flimsy transactions and watch people who make huge withdrawals, then notify their colleagues lurking around somewhere via WhatsApp, giving full details of the intended victims.
Some years ago, I had to withdraw a huge sum of money because the merchant(an old woman) insisted she didn’t want a transfer for whatever reason.
After giving me the cash( openly) instead of inside their bulk room, I noticed a young guy who watched as the money was counted moving towards the exit trying to make a call on his phone. I was scared because something told me he was trying to organise for me. While I was still contemplating whether to pay the money back into my account or just go ahead because it’s a risk either way, I just saw the manager come out of her office and she insisted the guy couldn’t leave.
This guy said he wasn’t interested in making any transactions any longer and had to leave but the woman stood her ground, told him he had to stay sitted in the banking hall without using his phone or she would call security. She didn’t even say anything to me.
That afforded me the opportunity to slip away because I believe he wanted to give my description and my car details to his people.
My heart pounded all the way to the merchant’s, in fact I kept checking my rear view mirrors.
Let’s be careful guys, so many of them lurk around banking halls under on pretext or the other looking for preys.

    3. Thank God for your life. I think the manager was watching their CCTV and saw everything.

In this era and time, if anyone insist on cash payments, just drive that person to the banking hall, withdraw the money and give him/her then move ahead.

Many lives has been wasted because of money.
