US DOJ Seeks To Strip Nigerian Man Of U.S. Citizenship Over $91M Tax Fraud

U.S. Department of Justice is moving to revoke the American citizenship of Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, the Nigerian-born man behind a massive identity‑theft‑driven tax fraud scheme.

Investigators linked him to over 10,000 fraudulent federal tax returns, attempts to claim more than $91 million, and over $11.6 million in refunds he actually received.
The Justice Department argues that he obtained U.S. citizenship through fraud and concealment, all while running a criminal operation that stole personal data, bypassed IRS security systems, and funneled money overseas.
Kazeem, who had been previously sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay over $12 million in restitution, now faces the possibility of losing his naturalized status entirely.

  1. Why do some Nigerians go abroad and waste opportunities? You are a citizen, which automatically means you are entitled to several benefits yet you still try to cheat the system that accommodates you. Shame!
Let him bear the consequence of his actions.
