Reacting, she said
''I have seen the various opinions regarding the manner in which I greeted some elders at a recent event. It gives me pause to reflect on when we began to drift from our culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling as we were taught is now described as “abosi.”
I, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, was raised to kneel when greeting those older than me. It is a value deeply rooted in who I am, and one I will continue to uphold with pride.

Does she also greet her elderly gateman, elderly trader she buys tomatoes from like this? Or is it only when the camera is on her?

DeleteYou can lead the way by doing that. It's good to know you police where she shops and who she employs. If you don't understand a culture, you can always learn. Even the eldest people in certain communities will bow to a teenager if he has a crown on his head. It is the crowned one who will show the same respect by using respectful manners of address in their speech towards those elders. Civility is complex to the simple. Even crowned kings stand in honour of colleagues they cannot bow to.
