Actor Jim Iyke Reveals What Cost Him His Marriage After His Mother’s Death

Nollywood actor Jim Iyke during an interview With Chude shared a story about his failed marriage. He says he became so focused on taking care of his son that he forgot to be a good husband to his wife.

After losing his mother, Jim Iyke said he poured all his love and attention into his young son. He turned into a full stay at home dad, changing diapers, feeding the baby, and holding him all the time. His son became his whole world But in doing this, he stopped showing up for his wife emotionally. He stopped being the man she married.

“I lost my spark, and my wife suffered for it. I became an obsessive dad. I gave everything in me to my son. I was a proper stay at home dad,” he said. “I became an excellent father but a woeful husband.”

He said his wife later told him she could no longer recognise the man she married. Jim admitted he did not know how to heal at that time. He gave her a clear choice: wait for him to get better or leave if she could not. She chose to leave and they separated as friends with no public fight or drama. Jim Iyke has taken full responsibility for what happened. He spoke about having three children and learning from his mistakes and says even after the divorce, he stays committed to being a good father.
