Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, has has revealed what she did with the money she won from the reality TV show....
Speaking during a recent livestream, she said
"The mistake I made was using my Big Brother Naija prize money to support family members instead of investing it. I thought I was helping my family members and sorting out their debts. I was spending generously on them. None of the older family members called me to give me financial advice on how to invest or manage the money well,"
"All of them were constantly demanding money from me for several stuff. I dug a lot of boreholes for family members. But the moment I started saying 'No,' that was the beginning of my problem with family members. They complain and even call me out in the media whenever I can't meet their demands. But now that the money has finished, I'm the only one facing the reality alone,
" she lamented.
Phyna's N100 million grand prize , comprising N50 million in cash and N50 million worth of prizes from the show's sponsors was one of the largest in the history of the Nigerian reality TV franchise at the time of her victory.

So the best thing they did is to collect their share so they won't miss out trying to advice someone that will never listen. ReplyDeleteYou are probably right, but it’s still sad that she comes from a family that not one older person offered her any wisdom. It’s better to say someone offered help but I didn’t listen, than to say nobody even thought to help and guide me, they only came to me with their hands out waiting for me to fill it.

No matter how great the need, set your own house in order first, because the ppl you rushed to help will still say you are silly or stupid or whatever they will call you when the money is gone. Better to be called selfish than those other ugly words. I believe in helping others but if you help until you get to zero how will you rise back up. Letting ppl suck you down to zero is not a win, parasites don’t care if you die, all they care about is what they get.

ReplyDeleteThis is what usually happens to most people who win in such a way... lottery, betting etc. Most of them become spendthrifts , live a lavish lifestyle, try to help friends and end up back at ground zero. It will amaze you how very few people really know how to windfalls. Do a walkabout on the street and ask people what they would do if they won 5M.... you will hear..... buy an iphone, buy car, move out to a bigger apartment etc.
