Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative

Hmmmmm........

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
GOING BACK TO SCHOOL IN 50's

Stella, please post this as chronicle
I’m considering the possibility of going to law school. My big problem is age, I’m not young and concerned about being able to keep up with the rigours of law school. I’m also concerned about taking time away from key working years and spending so much to pursue a childhood dream. I’m early 50s.
Sincerely,
Thoughtfully confused

It is better to do it and find out you could not than to discourage yourself from even starting and not knowing if you could ever finish...
Going to law sef how? I had to read that again, have you been to the University recently? Law school is very expensive now so also think about that....
Most importantly, do not be discouraged!

  4. Let's say you're 54. In 5 years time you will be 59 whether you do the programme or not.

Wouldn't you rather spend your life achieving dreams that you have the power to achieve that spending your life asking "what if?"

  10. The reward is high. I encourage you to go back to school and pursue law school if that is what you want to do.
Let me tell you a story about my dad. He served in the police force for 35 years and retired in 1997. After retirement, he went back to school to study law. By the time he went to law school, I was also in the university, so my dad and I were both away at school at the same time. I am the youngest of seven children.
He finished law school, graduated, and has been practicing ever since. My dad celebrated his 86th birthday two days ago, and he is still active. We even joke with him that he needs to retire a second time.
The reason I am sharing this is to say, if this is something you really want to do and you have the support of your family, do it. A career in law can last a long time. My dad has had two full careers, first as a policeman and now as a lawyer. He works for himself, he is self sufficient, and staying active has helped keep him healthy.

  12. After spending more than 2 decades in healthcare as an MRI Rad tech, I decided to change careers at 51. Followed my dream..having loved computers, now I have two careers...in health ( now my side hustle, when I want small change) and my main one in IT..so I would say go for it, and do not talk yourself down...also be mindful of those you turn to for advice, cause most will discourage you and call you greedy! Start, start, start!

  14. Dear poster,
please go ahead and do it!
Remember the word of God says: "l can do all things through Christ who strengthes me"... Another word of God says:
"The Holy Spirit of God is He that teaches me how to do all things"... That includes studying law in the university and subsequently going to the law school.

With man some things can be impossible, but with God all things are possible to him that believes 🙏.

The passion you have for it is the fuel⛽️ you need to push through when it gets tough, while the Holy Spirit will enable you (if you rely on Him).

    Congratulations, in advance 🎊 👏 💐 !!

  15. Advantage:
You can even leverage on your network when you start practicing law.

    Additional Advantage:
Undergraduate Law is easy to read for a graduate. With quality textbooks and good reading conditions, you can make middle grades.

  17. As a lawyer, I would say starting Law school at that age is not strange- I've seen older. But it's very stressful, tasking and time consuming. Do your research before going in. My honest opinion though,.it's not worth it
