Isnt this apology coming too late????
Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has publicly apologised to President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, after the presidential aide revealed he almost lost his job over intelligence reports linking Elliot to the political crisis around the attempted impeachment of Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Elliot called Gbajabiamila his political mentor and said any misunderstanding was unintentional.
He said “To err is human, to forgive is divine. I’m sorry, my daddy,”
He also apologised to a female political leader he described as the “matriarch of Surulere.”
The apology followed Gbajabiamila’s recent revelation that President Tinubu summoned him in Abuja during the Obasa saga, confronting him with intelligence reports alleging Elliot was involved.
Gbajabiamila told party members “I almost lost my job as Chief of Staff last year because of Desmond Elliot,”
He said the DSS also contacted him, warning that his name was being linked to the crisis. Gbajabiamila claimed he repeatedly instructed Mr Elliot to publicly distance himself from the impeachment plot but he didnt.
Mr Gbajabiamila revealed that he no longer supports Mr Eliott and has chosen a new candidate to support.

ReplyDeleteActually Stella, it's not too late to apologize,in politics there are always other positions and other tenures. He should apologize, better late and have hope for the future than never have any hope again in politics.

ReplyDeleteFrom his narration. It was pure politics. He wasn't around so his colleagues agreed on him as the fall guy in case their mission failed and kept mentioning his name after things fell apart.
ReplyDeleteIt was stupid of them to think Lagos West would be left without Obasa after the last election.
He got back in and hustled to be seen in action based on rumours and missed the window of opportunity to make the video and apologize because he was skirmish of taking another wrong strong position.
It's all learning. There may be a next time in another post if he's able to talk to other leaders and skip this turn. The independence will even help him.

Tinubu is big on loyalty, infact Largeeee on loyalty and Hon Obasa and caucus made Tinubu,
made him with their full chest. Can't imagine the shock and humiliation the ever reliable Gbajabiamila went through.

ReplyDeleteWhat about Obasa since the days of Tinubu as Governor of Lagos? He was once a Chief Whip since 2003 till now he is the Assembly Speaker. Elliot should challenge the status quo and ensure he sees it to the end. No more consensus candidacy. Every time is Baba said this, or that! Rada Rada Politricks
