Supreme Court Clears Path For Senator David  Mark Bloc In ADC Power Struggle

Nigeria’s Supreme Court has delivered a decisive ruling that strengthens Senator David Mark’s faction in the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In its judgment on Thursday, April 30, 2026, a five‑member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba nullified the Court of Appeal’s directive that had ordered all sides to maintain the status quo ante bellum—the pre‑dispute arrangement.
The apex court held that the appellate court overreached its authority by issuing that order and has returned the case to the Federal High Court in Abuja for full hearing and resolution on its merits.

While the ruling stops short of naming the legitimate ADC leader, it unfreezes the party’s operations, giving the Mark‑aligned camp renewed leverage in the continuing contest for control.

  2. The pirates and buccaneers have built themselves a fly trap that will snap shut on them.

Mark, instead of heading back to the high court as ruled by the appeal court months ago, wasted more time by going to the supreme Court that told him and his clique to return to the same high court. What the apex court added was that "status quo antebellum" need not be maintained, giving Mark and his executives a temporary and limited relief.

Here is the problem: the relief will last only until the high court kicks them out because they have breached the ADC constitution that Tinubu didn't write and cannot help them read. That constitution demands a 2 year membership before being able to contest for execs posts and Mark was crowned after membership of a few minutes, if he has registered in his ward by then. Similar with Aregbe and others that were fixed there for Atiku's agenda and those struggling for VP ticket.

They have again received a limited relief because the state chairmen who are not ready to be unemployed and relegated to farming have secured a high court ruling negating the Mark state congresses meaning the exco led by Mark are toothless. Without those 37 chairmen cooperating with carrying out legally valid congresses, there is no hope for a legally recognized convention meaning the front tires of the car have been removed since these men were not carried along by Nwosu and so will not retire themselves at this time for people only skilled in building themselves, not others or political structures.

The treatment Abure got from the hypocritical mob of Obi is a lesson for any serious politician. You can see that even labor has pulled back so they don't labor in vain only to be flayed by lazy and rude urchins online. Imagine running a party for years and then a non member is foisted on the for financial decisions and the saints brought in cannot account for monies raised.

All these miracles must be performed by ADC before May 30 and thank God the electoral reform bill was scrutinized publicly in the national Assembly for legislators in all parties to raise issues but they didn't since they prefer to exercise around Abuja for one day then go home to rest. After that, they return to the amala hotspot to threaten to burn down structures since they refuse to build theirs.

This current crop of opposition deserve awards for their degree of laziness and selfishness. When a grandfather decided to take a risk, delay his ambition and endure humiliation and ingratitude for 12 years, building people, tourists like Saraki were feeling smart and cracking up about his tearing up at an instance. Today, those who stayed home and faced the storm have secured their base because they have built trust while political tenants are still without a flag bearer and are playing "coalition" without even having a party.

Kudos to SDP for waking up quickly. PRP, being even older and more ideologically driven will decide if and how they want to destroy themselves by selling out to those without maintenance culture and who are the very opposite of what they believe. The new party legally never balance and that is their making.

Atiku should ask himself if he would have been better off building one party instead of renting and hopping about. Obi knows that he gave up his birthright in APGA for a porridge bowl VP ticket years ago. Since then, political vagrancy and fairweather opportunists will continue to use him to get what they want while he is left hanging. It happened to Buhari many times till he faces reality and nurtured his own system to merge with others who better understand politics.
