Woman Jailed For Life For Killing Husband And Writing Book About Grief

I watched her during the sentencing and her face showed shock and regret!

Utah mother and self‑published children’s author Kouri Richins has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing her husband, Eric Richins, and later writing a grief book for kids about coping with the loss of a loved one.

Richins was convicted of aggravated murder, along with multiple counts of fraud and forgery, after prosecutors proved she slipped a fatal dose of fentanyl into her husband’s drink in 2022.
Investigators said she purchased the drugs through an acquaintance and administered them while pretending to care for her husband’s health and their family.
Prosecutors argued that Richins’ motive was financial; she attempted to cash in on millions of dollars in life‑insurance policies, tried to take full control of their estate, and had been secretly moving money before Eric’s death.

Evidence also showed she had previously attempted to poison him.

What shocked the public even more was that Months after Eric’s death, she published a children’s book about grief, presenting herself as a heartbroken widow helping kids navigate loss. Prosecutors described the book as part of her attempt to “profit from the murder and rewrite the narrative.”
At sentencing, the judge condemned the killing as cold, calculated, and deeply manipulative, noting that Richins not only took a life but also exploited the tragedy for personal gain.

She will spend the rest of her life in a Utah state prison.

  1. The judge must be a male chauvinist and her husband must have done terrible things to her in the past to deserve that.

    1. Just like that, a dead man is still the victim. Are women on this blog having a mental health crisis? With all the evidences, her husband must have done terrible things to her in the past and he deserves to die, may all your brothers, uncles and father suffer same fate this man suffered.

  3. I’m still wondering how she racked up 4.5 million of debt, I don’t know if that was ever disclosed. Why couldn’t she just have filed for bankruptcy, yes it’s embarrassing but not even close to the stigma and embarrassment of being labeled a murderess for the rest of her life. The children don’t even want anything to do with her. It’s a good thing she was caught.
