The woman, identified as Iwebema Ogechi Peace, was caught at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos. She was about to board a Qatar Airways flight to Beijing, China, when officials stopped her at Terminal 2 on June 21, 2026.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the arrest followed good intelligence. A search of her luggage found four large parcels of cocaine hidden in a false bottom. The total weight of the cocaine was 7.5 kilograms. Ogechi Peace, who often travels to China to buy goods for sale in Nigeria, is now in NDLEA custody. The agency is still questioning her about the drugs.
