  4. I believe teachers have a role in disciplining children, & I'm not against correction. However, when a parent feels their child has been wrongfully treated, that parent should have the right to express their concerns.

    Recently, my younger daughter came home with cane marks on her back. I reached out to the teacher, not because I didn't like her being corrected, but because I felt the punishment had crossed a line. What upset me even more was the lack of remorse from the teacher. Rather, he was focusing on justifying his action.

    I feel every school should have a proper mediation channel where concerns can be addressed before emotions escalate. It protects the child, the teacher, & the relationship between parents and the school.

    Our children can be disciplined but they also need to be protected.
