A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, ordered the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to the federal government. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the order after accepting the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s, EFCC.


 The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has barred the American pilot involved in the June 10 aviation incident at Asaba Airport from operating within Nigeria’s airspace and suspended the aircraft’s First Officer pending the outcome of ongoing investigations. The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, disclosed this on Thursday on the sidelines of the Airport Business Summit in Lagos.

 The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has said headline inflation rate slowed to 15.91 per cent in June from 15.93 per cent in May. NBS disclosed this in its latest Consumer Price Index, CPI report released on Wednesday, noting that the food index increased 17.52 per cent in June from 16.96 per cent in May 2026.

 The Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, has shared N2.550 trillion as revenue generated in June 2026 among the Federal Government, states and the 774 local government councils. The latest allocation is N250 billion higher than the amount shared for the previous month. It represents an increase of 10.9 per cent.

About six people were killed on Tuesday night after a gas-laden truck exploded at an Army checkpoint along the Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State. The explosion reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chikara Division, triggering an emergency response by police officers, personnel of the Motor Traffic Division, and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

 Osun State Police Command says it will prosecute the 13 suspects arrested for alleged kidnapping, cultism, ritual-related offences, stealing, hooliganism, and unlawful possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp during separate operations across the state. The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Osogbo, where he also announced the rescue of a kidnapped herder and the recovery of N2.2m ransom.

 Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 13 kidnap victims during separate operations in the Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. The operation, carried out by troops of Sector 2, also disrupted planned terrorist activities, forcing the suspects to flee and abandon their captives.

 A combined team of police and other security agencies have launched a manhunt for gunmen who abducted the principal of Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, four students and one NECO ad hoc staff member during the ongoing National Examinations Council examination in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. It was reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 5:25pm, while students were writing the examination.

 The Senate on Wednesday called for immediate deployment of security personnel to Akpachi-Ugboju, Otukpo-Nobi, Ondo Ugboju and surrounding communities in Benue, following renewed attacks by suspected bandits which had claimed about 20 lives. 
The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Sen. Abba Moro, PDP-Benue South on the urgent need to stop the gruesome killings in the affected communities in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.
