Minister of Works David Umahi has addressed the death of Mary Habila, a young nurse who was found dead on June 27, 2026, at his country home in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
Mary had worked with him for three years as a staff seconded from David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences. She was in the residence with a colleague for official duties. Umahi described her as “like a daughter” and said she had long been under his family’s care, including medical treatment at Turkish Hospital.
According to Umahi, Mary spoke to her boyfriend shortly before her death and complained of bleeding from the nose. The boyfriend ended the call because he feared the conversation might worsen the bleeding. When he called back three minutes later, she did not respond. By morning, staff broke her door and found her dead, with the bathroom tap still running.
Umahi said medical help was called immediately and the police were informed. He denied any cover up and criticised attempts to politicise the incident, stressing that the guest house where Mary stayed was far from his own living quarters.
He said the family has refused an autopsy, claiming it is against their culture, but he has instructed his lawyers to insist on it to determine the true cause of death. Umahi described the loss as painful and said Mary was one of his best workers.
He added that only God will resolve the matter if the family continues to reject an autopsy.

The rich also cry 😢
ReplyDeleteThe law is for the poor. A poor man would have been in police custody by now..
I dey tell you.
DeleteLocking people up without evidence is not according to the law.
DeleteOzikwa physio na ewi now, it use to be private chef before
ReplyDeleteSo many questions, but unfortunately, we may never get the answers.
ReplyDeleteI really like how he’s being called out by Nigerians especially by his own people. I think this is one of the things I love most about the Igbo tribe. Irrespective of your status, political position, or financial weight, once you misbehave, you will be held accountable. We do not condone mediocrity or evil.
The other time it was a woman known as Madam Tracy. Today, a lady has mysteriously died in his country home. And let’s not even start with the five NELAN engineers who went missing over 10 years ago under his watch.
There are so many controversies associated with him. Sadly, nothing will be done about any of these.

Apologies, *five years ago* precisely 2021.

No need to respond to the thrash you wrote in your 2nd paragraph, so Hausas, Ijaws, Yoruba etc. don't call out their leaders !!!.
DeleteI don't know what you're saying. I wrote on my tribe and I didn't mention yours or attack yours. You can do that yourself. It's that simple

That is the true meaning of "Igbo enwe Eze".
DeleteNo matter your level, once you fuck up, we will drag you without respecting your status.
Teejay, don’t stop putting his past out there. Don’t let anybody come with distraction tactics to get you off course. If this entity has a record of death and disappearance surrounding him let it out.
DeleteHer family refused autopsy?
ReplyDeleteYes. And that is their conviction, no one has the right to shame them. BTW why are you acting like its unusual? Afterall you have heard of people that refuse blood transfusion.
DeleteThere are a lot of unanswered questions here…
ReplyDeleteBut then again, the law is only for the poor!
May her soul rest in peace.
But how did he have the transcript of her phone conversation with her boyfriend???
ReplyDeleteTry to reason. After the incident, he would have come over and spoken. He would have been contacted by the police and stated what he knows as the last person to speak with her. You are so desperate for a conspiracy you can't even lend your mind to basic interactions play out. Even on TV, you see people at scene of events give their account of what happened. People give first ha d narrations of phone calls and such.
DeleteIt is well
ReplyDeleteIf na poor man now...na inside prison he for dey explain all these..
ReplyDeleteNigeria is a lawless country
Not adding up.
ReplyDeleteWhy will her family refuse an autopsy?
ReplyDeleteI believe they left everything in the hand of God, this is Nigeria the rich decide how it will go.
DeleteThey know that the truth will never come out, so they took their L in peace.
... or probably got paid.
DeleteThis is the heartlessness you see in certain human beings. A grieving family who knows she had her health challenges want to speed up their grieving process and honor their dead the way they know how. Instead of appreciating their humanity, they tear into the character of the deceased family and even the dead lady herself, insinuating that that she was there for nefarious or immoral reasons. They will rather pour fire in the eyes of those mourning than to let the dead rest. This same demonic spirit disturbing them is what has led to Mohbad resting for a few hours in the ground before being caged in a freezer up till now. This time, they want to convince this innocent family to allow them make a mess of their daughter the way they handle their own family members.
DeleteWhen their wishes are ignored by the family, they will pounce on the employer for employing a trained nurse and trying to clear his name with an autopsy and claim he took her body by force. These same rabid scum have no words for the men in uniform who leaked the photos of the body and the dregs in publishing that chose to rubbish this lady by posting her remains and maligning her character without evidence for cheap political points.
Very,very unfortunate....
ReplyDeleteSo from 27th June until now he couldn’t put out a statement. She was all that and no honour given to her life. It’s only after he realizes that the authorities are pushing through with their investigation he is crawling from under his rock. Mtsscchhwww

ReplyDeleteOnly God knows the truth
May her gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord 🙏.Only God knows what happened to her.
ReplyDeletewe like to politicised everything, the lady might have an underlying health condition, her family knows better. Whilst the death might be sudden and painful,,Umai might not have anything to do with it and the family has the right to stop anyone mutilating the body. You have better chance of fighting for yourself spiritual if you are not mutilated.
ReplyDeleteShe was being managed in the Turkish hospital according to her employer. Many clinical people work privately even abroad, in addition to their public posts. Some use private rooms, some use the ambulatory model and for the very wealthy, the clinician lives on their estate or close by. I have relatives who have used such ambulatory services that added up to about 200 to 300 dollars per month for at least 2 consultant visits monthly and other referrals and treatment still come out of pocket.
DeleteYou'll see Nigerians don't want to investigate this poor lady's passing. It's all reactionary politics of lazy people. Have they shouted Mohbad back I to the ground after digging him up? Can't the voices they raised at the time to exhume him silence the father's attempt to continue in foolishness? They know what their doing. The family should go on with their plans of they have no suspicions while those howling on social media looks for cor. p ses in their own family to deface and ridicule.
If that lady was a Muslim, would they pose the same energy? Look at online galaxy defenders destroying the reputation of the woman they claim they want to save with dirty allegations, even insulting her father since they have no respect for their own or even lack fathers so have no value for other people's fathers.
