Nigerian footballer Moses Simon has spoken out about a tough moment early in his career. The Super Eagles winger says Enugu Rangers International did not sign him after a trial because he is not Igbo. He calls it tribalism.

Moses Simon shared the story in a recent interview. He said he trained with the club for three months in 2012, even captained the screening team, and received no pay. An Igbo player who trained for just one week got a professional contract, he claimed. Moses Simon, who is from Benue State (Idoma ethnic group), said he was told his Northern roots were the reason.

Moses Simon went on to build a strong career in Europe with clubs in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. He has played many times for the Super Eagles and become one of their key players.
