E ni mi lara!” meaning “You are all disturbing me!” She later switches to English, saying: “They were not even supposed to do anything to me. They started beating me. I am weak. I am hungry. I am tired…”
Another video shows a man alleged to be her father‑in‑law locking the gate.
Tosin is now appealing to well‑meaning Nigerians for help, saying she fears for her safety and that of her two young sons as she mourns her husband and faces an uncertain future:

As a man, while you’re alive, make strong provisions for your wife and children. Because in your absence, without proper legal backing, they can lose everything.
What do I mean by "good provisions"?
1. Put your wife and children on your properties.
2. Make them co-owners, not just beneficiaries.
3. Make them shareholders too.
Statistically, men leave before their wives. So their protection must be put in place while you’re alive.
Otherwise we keep exposing them to vulnerability from siblings and parents.

ReplyDeleteAnd this is one of the reasons why we keep telling women married and single to secure themselves financially. Don't be in no marriage playing games with your heads in the clouds. Love your husband, adore him, be the best wife and mother but stock and pile and have financial security and physical security someplace else. Do not support or help to build no house on family land, build in neutral territory and do not pack move go into any family compound. Man's body isn't even fully decomposed yet and the pack of vultures flew in to scavenge, grab and steal, even to the point of beating her up. She can't even grieve her husband's death, they are not even grieving him, all they see are opportunities. See father-in-law in motion, just like that dead entertainer's who can't be buried even now. You stay there thinking these family members love you, 8 times out of 10 they simply tolerating you until a day like this arrives, yes there are wonderful in laws, but that doesn't mean you still do not secure yourself. Nobody plans to die young but it happens, so secure yourself!

Mrs. Sharon, it is not easy you are correct, but because something is hard doesn’t mean you don’t attempt it. I’ve lived too long and seen too much, I know how vicious life can get for women and children depending on the mercies of others. In this particular situation it is a tragedy but what about when a man decides to upgrade and put his wife on the streets to bring another woman in? What about divorce, domestic violence, longterm illness and all the negative things some women have to navigate and shockingly find out they are suddenly pushed to the corner. These things carry greater impact if funds and other resources are not available. Women cannot afford to be caught off guard and left in the gutters. Preparedness is key. Preparedness will look different for everyone because everyone’s capacity is different. Some women may be able to stash millions and have a house, others may only be able to stash 300k and a lot of land somewhere in the village. But the key is to have something so you are not at zero. Anything, no matter how little is better than nothing. Nobody hope for these things but unfortunately life happens.
