Actress Ini Edo Shares The Worries She Had About Having A Child Through Surrogacy
Actress Ini Edo has revealed the fears she battled while choosing surrogacy. she said her biggest concerns were how society would perceive her decision and whether she would be able to bond deeply with her child.
She explained that she worried about public judgement and questioned if she would love her baby as much as she would have if she had carried the pregnancy herself. Conversations with professionals and understanding that love transcends the method of birth helped calm her fears.
She shared her thoughts in her own words: "I just knew that I wanted a child and it wasn't happening the way that I wanted it to happen. That was an option that was open to me. I just knew that God would see me through. I didn't know what to expect or how the world would perceive it, at some point, I didn't care. What bothered me was would I be able to love her as much as if I was the one that carried her? Would she be an okay baby? I had those questions that bothered me. But of course, with a lot of research and weighing my options, I realised that there was really no difference."
Surrogacy is nothing new though. It’s been happening since time immemorial, humans just love to forget. All those handmaidens who got pregnant and handed the children over to their ladies to raise as their own were surrogates. Thousands of years BC.
