At least 5 miners were gunned down and two others left with injuries after gunmen attacked them at a site in Marit village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday. The attack happened amid high tension in some parts of the state. Spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident, saying it happened around 1pm.

Two inmates have died in a cholera outbreak at the Kurmawa Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kano State. The Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, confirmed this in a statement, on Saturday.
According to the Service’s spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Corrections, JN Osuji, laboratory tests conducted on September 23 confirmed the outbreak.

Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the diversion of imported goods worth more than N20bn over the past 19 years. The suspects, identified as Lateef Jamiu, Abubakar Amadu, Aliu Olanshile, Opeyemi Oyewale, Hassana Malami and Hassana Haruna, were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following complaints by importers over missing consignments.
