Ejim was arrested in connection with a clip showing him leaning out of a car window and shooting into the air around the UNICROSS campus in Calabar. The video began circulating in the early hours of September 17, 2026, prompting immediate police action.
According to the Cross River State Police Command, Commissioner of Police Ajo Geoffrey Ordue ordered officers to identify and apprehend everyone involved once the footage gained traction online.
Operatives from the Violence Crime Response Unit traced the vehicle seen in the video at about 11:30 p.m. that same night and arrested the driver. Information obtained from him led officers to a hotel in Calabar, where Ejim was located and taken into custody.
During interrogation, Ejim allegedly identified himself as a leader of the Vikings Confraternity and admitted he was the person firing the shots in the viral video. He reportedly told investigators that he had participated in a sign‑out celebration earlier that day and that another member of the group handed him the pistol used in the incident.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals connected to the act, determine how the firearm was obtained, and trace the full movement of the vehicle involved.
