In a recent video, the governor said the APC controls the federal, state and local governments in Delta. He asked how anyone could claim the party would not win. He added that if the party had not given Orode a chance to contest after her father’s death, people would have blamed them. According to him, the daughter does not even need to campaign because sympathy alone would make her win.
Orode Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development under Oborevwori. She resigned from the cabinet in May 2026 along with another commissioner so she could run for elective office in the 2027 elections. She later emerged as the APC candidate for Warri North Constituency through affirmation as the unopposed candidate during the party primaries.
Daughters of previous governors have secured APC tickets: Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu (daughter of James Ibori) for the House of Representatives, Marilyne Daramola-Okowa (daughter of Ifeanyi Okowa) for the House of Assembly, and now Orode Uduaghan for the House of Assembly.
Former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan died on October 19,2026 at the age of 71.
