NCDC Confirms Abuja Ebola Patient Has Deteriorated to Multi‑Organ Failure

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that the Ebola patient in Abuja , a female diplomat who arrived from Uganda has deteriorated into multi‑organ failure.

NCDC’s Director of Public Health Laboratory Service, Olajumoke Babatunde, revealed during an emergency meeting that three molecular tests confirmed the Bundibugyo strain, the same strain currently driving the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The WHO has also verified the strain and warned that no approved vaccine or specific treatment exists for it.

The patient travelled into Abuja on October 3,2026 developed symptoms on October 7, 2026 and presented at a private hospital on October 11, 2026 where she was initially treated for malaria‑like symptoms before Ebola was suspected.
According to the Incident Manager of the National Ebola Response, Dr. Odianosen Ehiakhamen, she is now in isolation, receiving care as surveillance intensifies.

The NCDC has identified 44 close contacts including health workers, caregivers, patients and travel contacts all of whom are being monitored closely.

    2. Pinky, multi-organ failure means she'll need to be on some form of life support soon, if she isn't already. But that'll only be buying a minute amount of time considering that there is no known cure for ebola.
The worrying thing for me is that this particular virus has a less than 21 day incubation period and when symptoms break out, even contact with their sweat can spread the virus.

The bigger issue here though is that because of the coming elections, government may want to suppress any reports about this.
