He made the remarks on Friday on Arise TV' Morning show
Abati reacted to a video circulating online in which Wike was seen allocating political positions to individuals at a rally in Rivers State.
Abati said: “Wike and Senator Umahi and all of them they are working for the same purpose, to make sure that President Tinubu is elected. So, they are family in that regard.
“But what I don’t understand is the way Minister Wike, for example, behaves as if he can dictate to everybody.
“There is one video in circulation. He had an event in the Rivers where he was practically sharing positions, telling at a rally, telling people the president of Nigeria, that’s the President Tinubu, will take presidency. He will take governorship. He will take all the Senate members. And he was calling the people there to step forward, saying yes, vote for this one.
“It’s then after allocating positions to the president, he now said he as Wike, it’s not good that he too doesn’t take something.
“Then he called out one person who will go to House of Reps, then some boys or some of his boys who will go to House of Assembly, and people were excited. He was allocating seats.
“No. Nobody should have that kind of power. It should be the Nigerian people, the electorate that should vote. But as for their family, yeah, they have the right to work together.”

I watched that video and I felt so ashamed of him. I wouldn't blame him, but the docile people of Rivers State and Nigeria at large who have condoned his mediocrity for too long. If Nigeria is to be a sane country, people like Wike should be answering cases of threat to life against politicians he openly admitted he chased in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

@Teejay,
DeleteMinister Wike can be quite uncouth.
However, Please stop with your "copies". This isn't FB.
Thank goodness some of us are well travelled and exposed.
Like your "sane" countries aren't showing themselves. I didn't see your comments when SDK posted housing, fuel and tuition crisis in those climes that you always refer to.
Please dust your passport and experience the world.
Didn't you see the protest by the citizens of the said countries? At least they're not docile like Nigerians. This is all I'm saying. They don't tolerate mediocres in power. This is the point I'm making but as usual, it flew over your head.

Wike's gut makes me laugh, another ' jagaban'. He talks like he can control everybody. Hear him bragging again, 'that Amechi will find it difficult campaigning in Rivers State,if he continues to talk down on Tinubu'.
DeleteI thought that he was elected as a governor then not knowing that he was selected with the help of late former PDP chairman his funeral is airing live today.
Ihe di oku ga aju oyi!!

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the masses votes are trampled on, elections rigged and so on & so forth 😨 Are we practicing a democracy?
ReplyDeleteDemocracy is dead on arrival in Rivers State as far as Wike is concerned.
DeleteSoon, very soon ...
