Olukoyede said a church member had donated billions of naira towards an RCCG project, but investigations later revealed that the money was proceeds of financial crime. Recounting the incident, he said,
"The reaction on the face of Daddy was like I was almost blaming myself for taking the matter to him. Daddy was visibly angry. He called one or two pastors and said, ‘I give you 24 hours. Everything you have traced to RCCG from this particular person who has been indicted, return it within the next 24 hours. That money was returned to the coffers of the government. That is what RCCG is known for. That is who we are. We are not the custodian of processes of crime,"
He also expressed concern over the increasing number of cases involving church leaders implicated in financial crimes, as well as allegations relating to contracts for church projects.

I believe pastors receive and will continue to receive gifts and donations endlessly from all sorts of people, and I have always felt they should be able to spiritually discern which ones are suitable for acceptance and which aren't. Maybe I am overreaching, but I just didn't think it should have had to come to this.
