Actress Emelia Brobbey Explains Bracelet Mistakenly Fell Into Her Baby Carriage.

''Actress, Emelia Brobbey who has been in the news for an alleged shoplifting incident in London has arrived in Ghana. She was met at the airport by many colleague actors who came to support her, chanting songs of victory on her arrival. She said in  a televised press briefing that she had been wrongfully represented in the press. She said the incident happened when a bracelet accidentally fell into her baby carriage without
knowing it until the alarm beeped when she was about leaving the shop, to signify that she had on her items that had not been paid for. She said she explained to the security and even paid for it when the shop attendant asked if she wanted to keep the bracelet. She hinted that she was pursued later by police after she had given her address because she was perceived to be in the country illegally''.

  4. Sometimes, when I go shopping, my 2yr old grabs things that are within reach but I try to make sure I dust her buggy before we leave cos it's not funny when those door sensors sound and every other shopper turns around(most times with their phones out) to see, video and upload the next "Primark shopper caught shoplifting £5 bracelet".

  5. Oyinbo people are not fools. If this was a honest mistake, CCTV would have shown that clearly. And why did she offer to pay for the bracelet when she didn't intend to buy it? Sounds like an admission of guilt.
If she actually used her baby's pram to steal, shame on her.

But I'm inclined to believe her if like she said, the bracelet is worth just 10pounds.

The local champion website, owners of this video didn't have the common sense to translate her explanation to English but the could stamp their name all over.

If it fell by mistake, she would show surprise and return it. Having to pay for it is because it was stolen on the first place, taking your details and going with you to where you stayed was because you stole. Poor you! You thought you could go scot free as usual but unfortunately for you, your cup don full. Just make your peace with God and don't do it again anywhere in the world. See as you just disgrace that small pikin wey never even reach 3months

  22. This can happen to anyone. My daugther took an item from a shop one day while she was sitting on the pram, I never knew and on my way out it alarmed and I was so embarassed but when the shop attendant saw it was an item my daugther was holding, she just smiled and told me it was ok and no police was involved. She could be telling the truth.

I looooooooooooooooooooove the fact that they are speaking their language... promote what is yours English is a borrowed language and no African will ever speak English like the English man. Soooooooooooooo pround of you guys for promoting your language. My naija people pls learn from this and stop promoting another man's language.

  24. Please what truth? How can the UK police lie against you? Plus, if you can stay illegally in the uk, you sure can steal and lie your way through all na the same wagon carry them. Kpash!!!

  25. If she claims that it fell into her child's buggie, it is very possible. Most of these shops have so much stuffs that you cannot help hitting some unknowingly without walking past. You even see kids in buggie, just pull things off the racks without any stress, whilst the naughty ones just push them right on to the floor.

Now, for the shops attendants, this is not just a daily occurence, its as constant as air itself for them and even security guards at the door or the shop attendants just take the items off the kids and allow their parents to go, they understand its the kid and not the mother. No police gets involved oooo!!!

Even the one I witnessed in peacocks, the mother had to pay because the child was not in a buggie, the child was actually walking and that was regarded as stealing, no police was involved because that was a minor and it was clearly a case of stealing even though the mother pleaded it was not intentional.

Emelia, I think your case is similar to that of this child, if it fell into your child's buggie, you wouldnt have had to offer to pay and the shop wouldnt not have even recieved your payment either and wouldnt have even gotten the police involved.

Shops like Claires' where I suspect this happened, don't take stealing lightly, and if you ask me na on top how much Jewelry, £2-£10????!!!

Mind you, you would be suprised to know that there are people right in that store in an enclosed area who actually monitor the CCTV, and they discreetly notify someone who will accost you before the even cross the door, some will even allow you walk out so they can catch you red handed,I also saw this happen in Marks and Spencer( I love to shop ooooo, sorry for my story, so I always see these things.lol)

Emelia, the harm is already done, just let the storm blow away itself, rather than ridicule yourself the more. I am not sure you will ever be allowed to step foot in UK again and its bad you even put other people into trouble with all this.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Unfortunately, the norm is for the shop to give you the option to put back the item or pay for it. The police still have the right to make an arrest. On the other hand, why pay for an item that mistakenly fell in your buggy? Does that mean when she was found out, she suddenly realised that she liked the bracelet so she decided to pay for it anyway. Why did she not stick to her story and just return the item. Well a lot of shoplifters in the UK use their baby buggies to nick things from stores therefore, they are usually closely monitored by CCTV...they usually end up with exactly the same story as Brobbey...It mistakenly fell in my buggy or I did not realise my child picked up an item when I wasn't looking. You don't expect her to own up to shoplifting so she is obviously going to deny it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This gist is the usual excuse of kleptos. If it fell in by mistake, why then pay for it? A kleptomaniac does not steal because she cannot pay for it!!! Its a disorder and thats why they asked her if she wanted the item. It was a confirmatory question.

  29. Local champion....when you are caught by security stealing things in a Uk shop, they simply ask you to pay for the item and then go.

If you can't pay, they hand you over to the police.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The alleged bracelet was found on her not baby pram. *Just saying*

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, she might be saying d truth cos they do call police once u have have given ur address. My advice is if u see urself in such mess and ur sort them out dont give ur address I can say this cos I was once a victim and saw the end of it and made my claims.

I was accused of credit card theft and police came after me at the airport a day after the incident. knowing that I'm innocent I stayed back to fight it with the store. UK Base

  44. These things happen. A similar thing happened to me in Dubai. The attendant accidentally forgot to take off one of the plastic shi (whatever its called) and the sensor beeped on us as we were exiting! Gosh it was so embarrassing, all the shoppers paid attention but when they checked the receipt and saw that we had paid my dad made a big issue out of it and made sure we were compensated. 15% extra off items! It was a family vacation

    ReplyDelete
  45. shut up joo, anything can mistakenly fall into your cart.....but in this case the cctv camera might have seen her take it herself

    ReplyDelete
  46. Its a two-way thing. She might be telling the truth or a lie. Nevertheless, the public support shown by her colleague will help her get
over this incidence quickly. At least, Some people believe in her innocence.

In other news, What is the worth of a nigerian life to a trigger-happy policeman? Is accidental discharge really accidental when the safety catch was consciously flicked?

  47. People, let's not forget there are a lot of racists here in the UK. I can bet my last pound if it was a white lady the story would have been told differently, even with CCTV evidence. Wise up, people!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Her story depends on the cost of the bracelet. If cheapo shop store, Claire etc it is possible it fell off those flimsy jewellery display thing-magigs and into her buggy. But if it is an expensive jewellery store with jewellery behind locked display units she is lying, impossible impossibility.

Lucinda Maya,,,shut it, your ignorance is showing.
