Jonathan DRAGS Obasanjo To Rights Commission Over Criminal Allegations ....Hian!

President Jonathan Goodluck yesterday submitted himself to the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, for probe over criminal allegations against him by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Former President Obasanjo had written an 18-page open letter to Jonathan, accusing him of incompetence, engaging in anti-party activities, ethnicism and training about 1,000 snipers ahead of the 2015 polls.

Jonathan, who denied the allegations in his response, is specifically inviting the rights commission to unravel the truth in the allegation that his government had begun training over 1,000 snipers to terminate his political opponents.

In a letter to the commission, President Jonathan is seeking for a thorough investigation of the allegations against him, touching on alleged human rights abuses.
The letter, signed by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, SAN, on the directive of Jonathan, had already been submitted to NHRC.

The letter dated December 23, 2013 was submitted yesterday. Sources close to the Presidency said  that similar letters had been written to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The two anti-graft agencies are to probe allegations of economic crimes and official corruption against the Jonathan’s administration as contained in Obasanjo’s letter.culled

    1. Stella mba, I disagree with u on this one. There's nothing like OBJ made a 'mistake'. The man has spoken once, Jonathan has responded almost 3x. Albeit his official letter was explicit enough even though he has chosen to be offended by just ONE of the many allegations levied against him and his administration. Its good, he should pursue this and this will bring out proof that he has not been completely truthful himself. Don't say obj made any mistakes because the man still stands by his words, except otherwise proven. Saying he wouldn't respond to GEJ doesn't mean he's sorry abeg. Jonathan should also prove the rest of the accusations. So do they think that this move will convince us otherwise? Something we know will not be followed to the letter? Abeg

  3. Jonathan shd v layed low n allow this matter die off. Even though he is trying to clear his name but Obasanjo isn't someone to meddle with, he will make sure he disgrace Jona more so as to cover up too, Jona may regret this if he dosnt tread carefully. 2014 is gonna be full of proper open letter.

  18. Jonathan is just doing this to cover up, thanks to Atinuke Quadri, all this agencies report to him, so what do u expect, it is obvious that Jonathan's administration stinks of corruption and I wonder what obasanjo stands to gain to accuse him wrongly, Jonathan is guilty of most accusations in Obj's letter but what he is doing is expected so that he will not look guilty. May God help us in this Country, Amen

  24. So when OBJ used efcc to witch hunt his enemies he was no clueless. All these people calling GEJ different names, wld they have gotten the effrontery to do same during Baba's tenure? Baba's letter was seditious he ought to have been called for questioning long ago, Being a former President doesn't make you above the law. So accusing GEJ of training snipers and having 1000 Nigerians on watch list should be taken lightly? Most of you on stella's blog are hypocrites, ignorant or just clueless. Stella has double standards, someone that cannot stand insults being hurled at her without responding with so much pain is now asking jonathan to let sleeping dogs lie? If he doesn't act you will call him weak. There is no where in the world that this kind of seditious accusation would be brushed off like that. Baba should bring proof since Baba knows it all.

    1. While I get ur point, the reverse should have been the case if at all. Say Obj has proof that Jonathan has been training snipers and all the rest of the accusations, I think Obj should have been the one to report the case legally to the legislative arm of the government. With enough proof other than bias assertions, and if found to be true, by now an impeachment of the president would have been in motion.

But when obj chose to make it an open letter matter and gej also chose to dignify him with a response, I think that Jonathan should have taken all the points against him as seriously as the training of snipers so called accusation. He cannot practice selective hearing and choose what to take to any commission for investigation. All the matters should be accorded the same urgency if at all.

And I also suggest that a fresh panel be set up for such an investigation, jurors from the citizenry perhaps. Not by party affiliation or with bias for any leader. they can choose the likes of Soyinka, Falana, one of the reputable pastors and Imam, a lecturer from a university, a few youth reps, random people like u and I.. etc. Then make these people a panel of justice to scrutinise the authenticity of obj's claims against the presidency. When this is done, then we'll all feel duly represented and a part of a transparent justice system.

Otherwise Jonathan is wasting his bloody time. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Who are those people he reported to? Do they represent u or me? Who's side are they on?

    2. Obj dat wrote d letter is he for u or us?

    3. @chyz. In practical terms OBJ spoke for Nigeria, if u would agree. After all his points bothered on matters arising in Nigeria didn't they? Except u do not have the well being of the nation at heart, then perhaps he wasn't speaking for u.
