Are irregular monthly period caused by stress or an imbalance that needs medical attention?
Dear Fellow Sdker.
Am wondering if there is any lady in the house who has chronic irregular period and was able to have children. Am a a married women age 42. Been married for 4years but no kid yet.
I started seeing my period at the age of 13 but it has never been regular. As I grew older it became worse as in I can stay a whole year or.more without seeing my monthly period.
I had taken in thrice while I was younger without even knowing I was pregnant.
My question now is. I want to know if anyone had this problem but was able to have kids.
How did she manage the situation cos I have tried IVF twice before but failed. I really want to know what to do. I have gone through a lot of tests in Naija. Indian, london and USA and I was told am very ok. Hubby is also very okay with very high sperm count.

I have saved this address for future references... dear poster I will have to reply anonymously. I am 31 years old and I am suffering from irregular menstrual cycle... since I can remember I have not had a period that came within a 28 or 30 days cycle.. some times I see my period 3 times in a year and other times after 60 days now it's btw 45 to 48 days... lately it doesn't flow normally plus it's runs through for 7 days and no I don't know if I can get pregnant. Although I notice if I have regular sex it will come within a 36 days period. Since I haven't had sex in 5 mnths It's extended to a 46/48 days cycle. Thank you for sharing your problem. will read thru the comment section for advice as well. I hope I can at least have 1 child when I eventually find a husband.

Don't worry,you will have kids.Medical Science is so advanced these days to make that dream a reality..Raise funds towards the options available to you. Its well sis.

DeleteHave u ever had a d and c? I had the same issues and the Dr I was seeing said I had PCOS! So I went elsewhere and on closer investigation the new Dr said the wall of my uterus( endometrium) is too thin to carry a pregnancy full term which leads to frequent miscarriage no matter the method you use IVF or natural! No other Dr saw this but this prof. So you can ask you gynae to check this it might be helpful. PS still waiting to get pregnant..... Hmmmmm

DeleteMydear don't know about it (medically)but I know a lot of people that have use herbs,my cousin suffered from infetility it was herbs that helped her,also a friend too had this same issue and was evn told she's not ovulating,but herbs did the magic,I know of native herbs that works on such issue.

ReplyDeleteMine is simple o. I saw my last period on the 19th of Jan and it lasted for 4days fast forward to Feb 20 now no show, am I safe? Fear dey catch me to buy test strip and hubby never ask how far but my nipples are hurting like when I want to see my period.... But I don't think am pregg sha just asking if this is normal cos na 32days I dey count so o. SHAKI

Irregular period does not affect your ability to conceive. And following what you said about being pregnant 3 times before. You obviously can conceive even with the irregular period. You just need to understand your body. You are probably one of the few people that have "natural contraceptive" That is to say your body may not ovulate sometimes. So study your body and your ovulation. Most women have slimy fluid when ovulating, this is what aids the sperm cells to swim up.
ReplyDeleteAlso try some vitamins, i.e Folic acid, eat healthy, limit fatty foods, don't eat shark fish, if your IBM is above 30 then you should consider loosing weight, and most of all limit stress. Try not to be too anxious about getting pregnant. Studies have shown that the body releases some sperm killing fluid if your anxious during intercourse. But more importantly have sex everyday or at least every other day. Best of luck!
Mine isn't chronic but i started my period
ReplyDeletequite early nd then it ceased for a year. Later that year (16). It came back nd has since been regular, i do miss a month or two nd it then regulates itself. When i got married it was still regular nd then suddenly it stopped. I thought i was pregnant but i wasn't, that was how i missed 10months straight. During d 10months, i used clomid but it didnt work, then I was diagonised with high prolactin level, my GP booked me in for MRI to check for tumour in my pitituary, MRI scan was fine nd prolactin came down to normal then my period came in September. I used clomid again nd it helped me ovulate but days after ovulation a sudden gush of water came out of me nd d next day d most painful period ever. In my mind i still think it was a miscarriage but my GP isn't sure as pregnancy was never confirmed. It still felt strange though. After October's period nothing came again till January 2014, I think d 3rd of January. GP asked me to use clomid for d third nd last time before they put me on metformin or so. I used clomid on d 5th day of my circle to the 7th day. Its d 20th of Febuary nd i haven't seen my period. I had cramps earlier in d month like AF was coming, nothing has come, my boobs have
become so massive even my hubby noticed, he said they are so full. I wasted so much money on pregnancy test kits but got only negatives. I am so scared to do a test now cuz I have never been pregnant dunno how it feels except from d painful period nd gush of water i narrated above cuz dat one my nipples were on fire, so painful nd sensitive. No nipple pain now but both breasts just randomly feels too heavy for me nd sometimes painful. 28th no period which I don't pray for, would just carry my two left legs to my GP to check me well. Poster if they say all is fine with u, not seeing your period for a month isn't fine o. Ask them for medicine that can force you to ovulate, like metformin not sure how its spelt. God's mercy nd speed upon u.
I hv a big problm mine is not irregular cycle but scanty periods sometyms very dark like dirt sme tyms last just a day,and I get migrane befor and after hv don several text taken drugs stil lyk dat
ReplyDeleteDear,I have the same problem with you,a specialist confirmed its hormonal imbalance,its so bad that I have stuffs lyk pimples on my face regularly,its very painful and it itches me a lot...to crown it all,my periods are very scanty and it comes sometimes for just a day...am very scared and I'm having thoughts that it might affect me later in life when I'm ready to concieve.I'll be very happy if I get a very good advice.I forgot to mention,I'm 22 years old.

I was given a drug to help bring my menses that way the doctor was able to calculate my ovulation so I'd know when to meet with my husband, it's usually a hormonal problem. It's didn't even cost up to #10,000. I'd advice you visit Arewa Specialist Hospital if you are in Abuja, before you start thinking of IVF. Hope this helps.

Ask for ovulation inducing drugs, if not, turn to God whom only him can do all things. He will give your reproductive organs life again. Not seeing your period for more than a year isn't right. Its either PCOS, or something has been tampered with. My cousin has dis issue as well, nd d gp placed her on a medicine she has to take for d rest of her life which for 3years has made her ovulate nd see her period but she isnt married yet so isn't trying for a baby. By faith she has stopped the medicine this month lets see what d outcome will be. Its well!!!

ReplyDeletePlease press ur nipples and see if breast milk is coming out of them or better still,go to any lab and do a hormone profile test.I think it costs like 9k, with d result, go and see a gyno. Irregular period is one of d causes of infertility. When your period is irregular, there is less chance for ovulation. You can't get pregnant without ovulating.

ReplyDeletePls visit south shore women's clinic! It's strictly for gynea. It could be a small polyp dt mere scan can't see.could be hormonal imbalance. U need an hysteroscopy to view ur uterus and other organs. U will also series of test .visit deir site n book an appointment. Goodluck

During my NYSC, it became serious, i will stay six (6) months without seeing my period. i SOUGHT for solution and some doctors thought I was pregnant but couldnt accept that fact. of course they were all wrong cos I was not even sexually active then, very much INNOCENT. ReplyDeleteMy dear,i dont think there is need 2 worry urself 2 much.I am 42,i strtd menses at age 12 and it normally 4 up 2 6mts.I was really worried bt i kept it to myself bt always praying abt it till i got married.My husband was making love 2 me almost evryday.2 cut d long story,i am nw a proud mother of 5 kids.The last born even came as a mistake cos i alwys tk Postinor after sex.I am using IUCD nw and suprisingly d menses is regular wt a 30days cycle.So have faith in God and visit a good Gnaecologist 4 ur mind 2 be at peace.All d best!

ReplyDeleteDear Poster, you said you have been pregnant thrice (meaning d pregnancy must have advanced before noticed it). Did you abort them? Was the abortions properly done? The previous pregnancies shows dat you were once very fertile. Maybe something went wrong. Well, whatever you do believe in God he alone gives children.
