Omonigho Abraham is the four year old boy whose head was half eaten open by attack dogs at home whilst he played. So far the update was encouraging but
It is with shock that i got this message this morning and I needed to confirm this from Omonigho's Father before posting it..He says because due process is not being followed,he might be losing his son whose head has started to smell..OMG.

Please his plea to Nigerians and the world.I am copying all the people i think should know.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:OMONIGHO ABRAHAM IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE IN HOSPITAL WITHOUT PROPER TREATMENT OR DOCTORS REPORT.

Dear Nigerians,

My name is Abraham Odia. I want to use this opportunity to appreciate well meaning Nigerians who has been by my side financially, materially, morally and otherwise since my current travail,May the good Lord continue to bless you and meet you at the point of your needs.

Currently the life of my son is on the brink as a result of the altitude of one Dr. Fadebiyi of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

The government of Lagos state under the leadership of Governor Babatunde Fashola promised and issue a directive to that effect that they will offset all the medical expenses of my son but as we speak the directives have not been observed my the management of Lagos State Teaching Hospital as I have been the person still sourcing for funds to pay the medical bills.

Also, for the past two weeks, no doctor have shown up to check the well being of my child as the nurses will only open the head clean and cover. As I write to you mow, my son's head is oozing and smelling and my boy is getting weaker and weaker by the day. And if drastic action is not taking my son may DIE ANYTIME SOON. There is a particular doctor called Dr. Fadebiyi who is the consultant to the ward where my son is being kept without medication. I have submitted an application since on the 16th October 2014 for the doctor to give medical report of the situation, he has refused to issue the report. I may not have the power to fight him but if anything happens to my son, people should please ask Dr. Fadebiyi why he refused to do the needful.

I want to use this apportunity to appeal to Nigerian Medical Association to please call Dr. Fadebiyi to order to respect the oath he took while signing in to be a medical doctor.

Finally, I am appealing to the whole world to come to my aid as I do not want my son to die. God bless you all. Please help me.Please Help me!

    2. i am a bit confused, maybe i suddenly lost my ability to read and comprehend, is it the nonchalant attitude of the doctors that is the issue here or money?? Reason i ask is i thought i read somewhere the boy's dad said all the money spent so far was refunded?

    3. If money is the issue here then this country is doomed and all hope is lost, i am not being negative but just stating the obvious. I am shocked, isn't Lasuth a government hospital? Neglect a 4 year old with this degree of wounds in the head?

That lousy consultant is obviously too busy consulting in other hospitals where he gets greedily paid, if this is true then words truly fail me and i am irked.

    7. Starting from the irresponsible management of Lagos state, u cannot simply say u wl offset all medical bills without making physical cash available knowing fully well that everything is done by cash at the point of need.
in dis nigeria where patients av to buy cannula, syringes, needles, gloves, cotton wool, medications etc do they expect the father to pay for all des stuffs at the mushin medical market by showing dem fasholas signature or his pics on d pages of newspaper???...for all u care even d solution used to wash ds guys head had to bw bought and given to d nurses...I just weep...
I rmbr working as a houseman in Luth and u have to continue using one cannula until u get an IV access...how on earth wl u not introduce infections???...every week we had to donate for our pts...oh the many times I will take blood frm patients and d parents wl say dey dont av money to take it to d lab...oh yeah I av to take it der myself and PAY cos sometimes its so difficult bleeding des small children and rather dan allow d blood to waste...I just do d needful

LAGOS STATE...pls make a meaningful deposition into dis account and follow up on d matter...we all know aw many years it wl stl take u to pay the medical pls...bt drop small money so life can be saved for now...

Guess its now down to us (the public) to take responsibility for an irresponsible govt for the umpteenth time...pls lets al do d needful.
      God bless us

    8. I'm sorry but this man is full of bullocks. I know dr fadeyibi very well and this is a just a smear. If only you knew how the government works. I'm sure social workers would have been assigned to this case because the father is not forthcoming. Even if lasg as ordered that the child should be treated for free is it the doctor and nurses that will go and get the drugs? That is the function of the social worker. Omonighos father should behave himself and be responsible for his child. Dr fadeyibis duty is to take care of the child but if drugs are not available, will he manufacture them himself? Stella, pls don't post stuff like this Abeg. Let Fashola himself go and get the drugs and deliver them to the patient. Hiss

bad it looks. This is a country that they put money before people life. What a screwed up country it is. We have the people in government embezzling millions and none of this people could do anything to help this poor innocent boy. Even Lagos Governent couldn't keep up to their promise within a timely manner. Screwed government with no care whatever for human life.

Is he not a father or grandfather? If this boy was his child will he allow the wound to stay like that.....u are just displaying your stupidity....it is not all cases u wait for due process to happen....tell your family doctor test if this boy dies his own family will be visited with worse calamity.....

If we treat every patient that comes to the hospital out of the little in our pockets or for free like you say, how would we afford to pay our children's school fees or feed our Families. We have human feelings and care about our patients but most times our hands are tied. If government provides the basic necessities required to treat a patient, there will be no complain. Thanks

Why are some doctors so inhuman?

    3. @Genny...I suggest you acquaint yourself with the workings of a govt owned hospital!
For crying out loud, omo is just a patient under the managing consultant! He doesn't have the power to treat the patient for free, unless of course he is doing so out of his own pocket! But ask me in a hospital with so many pathetic cases, how many patients will treat from your pocket??
Am so angry right now! Please stop calling out the innocent consultant...he hasn't done anything wrong!
Mr Abraham..please kindly go to the CMD's office and table your issue, he is the one that runs the hospital and it's affairs, he alone can give the authority for your child to be treated free of charge ofcourse with the hospital's welfare scheme! Just stop calling out that consultant...how on earth do you think he will feel after this messy report about him? how happy do you think he will be treating your child when you eventually gather money? Am in the system so I know what am saying!
Stella, please verify your reports and get the correct facts (leave emotions aside) before posting such sensitive issues, it's so wrong painting the consultant as wicked!

    4. Fashola already sent word to the hospital that the boy be treated and billed under the lagos state govt. And it still stands. So if the doctors there are not attending to the boy as needed then the doctors in charge should be asked questions. Funds isn't the issue as u can read what he said, it is the attention of the doctors that's divided. Will call the boys father now

    4. Let it be known to everyone who cares to listen that gov Fashola did NOT make any empty promises. The governor has given the hospital a mandate, and the boy's father a letter of consent for free treatment in the hospital.

Not only that, he also has refunded in part what he spent so far, and will do more. He also has assigned a member of the ministry of health in lagos to follow up on the matter. Anyone can feel free to call the boy's father to be sure, thank God Stella post his details. I have done so, and he is aggrieved at the consultant because he expected that he should see his son everyday, which is understandable.

He even told me that he had to leave the hospital premises, leaving the boy and his mom because he didn't want to commit any crime out of anger because of the behaviour of some of the hospital staff. His grievance is that they keep giving him a push around because he asked for a full medical report on the boy's development, which he is entitled. However, in the last 24hours, the consultant already attended to the boy. I asked if he still has money because the lagos state had given him some money barely 2weeks ago, and he also has been getting monies from random kind hearted Nigerians, he said that even though his letter from lagos state shows that he shouldn't be charged for anything, the burden to buy drugs with physical cash is still on him. Meaning that whatever he spends in cash would be refunded by the govt should he exhaust the funds with him... hence he was asked to keep receipts...

This is the arrangement with them. It is a teaching hospital, and we all know how it is. Like i told the father of the boy, I personally think that this boy should be flown abroad. It will hasten the wound to heal, so that grafting can be done quickly. I am worried for infection, very worried. Meanwhile the consultant told him he would be there for nothing less than 6months. So.the journey has only just begun. What they need the most is our prayers, but I insist the boy be flown out. This is what I want to ensure, and would speak to the appropriate authorities and perhaps feed you back on this blog. God bless

    1. God bless u. But I have it on good authority that this man was given some money by lagos state last week. Won't disclose amount but he was given what he had spent so far, and extra. Although with the promise of getting more. A letter was also sent to the hospital that they should be treated and given priority, which the hospital is aware. So I don't understand how the funds was exhausted if his claim is that for two weeks doctors haven't attended to him. Will get to the bottom of this. I know money isn't the issue.

    2. Its so disheartening. We can't loose him. I don't think the doctor is at fault here, although his mistake will be that he never carried the little boy's father along. He never gave any explanations. By this time tomorrow, Fashola's aide will sort this out. It is well

I hope a lot of people now understand why some individuals put money together to travel abroad for medical issues even childbirth where they know they are not even getting citizenship for their kids!! Is that how you usually judge issues...based on a side of a story? based on the story of an emotionally traumatized man who obviously doesn't know what obtains in the hospital? You guys derive pleasure in calling out doctors quickly! You can't call out your irresponsible government...who specialize in promise and fail, squandering public funds! people like you are those who discourage doctors that genuinely want to work! You are the reason why many young Nigerian doctors are running to smaller countries...Namibia, Trinidad, Rwanda, etc in search of motivation! And no...it doesn't always have to be about the money! You are the reason why Nigeria can never get better! For your info...a patient pays for every single item he uses in the hospital ranging from cottonwool, syringes, canula to fluid giving set! My heart bleeds when I see them! Where is our govt? What is difficult in providing these basic materials in the hospital? Yet they spend millions on frivolities...and you keep mute and dare to call out a doctor who has given his whole life in pursuit of knowledge to save others! Yes, most doctors have no life! Am married with kids yet I don't get to see them, I've left them in the hands of strangers just to be in the hospital running around people I don't know from adam...and please don't tell me about no oaths!
Madam/oga..call out your useless government! Demand for health schemes like is seen in other countries and stop spewing trash about doctors! Abi you want the doctor to pay with his personal pocket? Am totally pissed at you and others who can't hold their govt responsible, you guys really suck!
NB: you call him an arse? Listen up, you can never be anything close to him even in your entire life! If you've arrived, then foot the boys bills! People like you are those that force their dull headed children to be doctors and of course they end up dropping out cos they can't take the heat...mtcheww!

  39. This is a lie. I happen to have first hand info on the patient at hand. MR Abraham must be an opportunist. He was still at the ward today with the consultant, Dr Fadebiyi and even thanked him profusely for his professionalism. He is looking for a way to milk God fearing Nigerians. Even as at this evening his wife and the other patients in the ward are outraged at this. Abraham should be ashamed of himself. If he needs money for other things, he should come out right and say and not use his son's condition as an excuse to 'bulk' his account. I believe he should be reported to ICPC.

    1. So u re the doctors daughter where in the memo did the boys father ask for money. He is only asking that they treat his son. Put your self in his shoes and imagine your four year old son going through that. Please have a kind heart and talk to your father not everything has to follow due process at times we use initiative and sympathy to do things.

    2. Shut up, am sure he came cos people must have told him they read something....as a consultant he is meant to come and see the boy at least every 2 days cos he takes the final decision on his treatment......govt hospitals are useless and this kind of injury is not just changing dressing......you are stupid for insulting the boys father.....May you experience what will keep u in hospital then u will tell us if he is being opportunistic to demand quality attention and treatment for his son....

  42. Docs daughter that called me from abroad i see that you are here defending your father, its good but please stop asking me to verify my story, you are reporting also what you were told, you can also verify from the boys father which you didnt.

You have every right to defend your father but you told me that there is patient confidentiality and Omonighos father cannot be told everything....maybe that is also the problem, that boy is just a baby and if his father cannot be told the true state then who should be told?..patient confidentiality on a four year old boy?please doctors educate me.I really got pissed off when she said this!

This man has not been briefed and he acted out of fear that his son is dying.he says the boy is weak and smelling.

I am on to this because i dont want that boy to die,I have nothing personal against your father ,THANK YOU.

    1. Hi Stella, I understand how you feel but please verify this info before posting this letter. I have a feeling the man is not telling the truth.

    2. Patient confidentiality with a 4 year old? She's not serious, they better be telling the parents everything going on with that child. Also, if the wound is smelly, it is infected. A wet to dry dressing should be used or a dressing containing gel. Is the child given antibiotics? What about pain relief? The child looks uncomfortable, so doc check yourself. And doc's daughter stay in your lane.

  43. If you are angry he called out your father fine but please stop saying he is an opportunist,Mr Abraham did not ask for money,he is only concerned about his son, this sos did not ask for money,it only questions why his son is not being attended to judging by the seriousness of his wounds.

The life of a little boy is at stake, please stop trying to rubbish the father because it will affect whatever help that is supposed to come to the little boy.

I wonder how you will feel if the seats are reversed and you are just a commoner sitting and looking at your half eaten son and without hope...I wonder!

    1. Dear Stella, I know that u are trying to sell but, u need to confirm dis story because the career of a good Dr is at stake. I am on the same ward with this boy and I can tell u that the boy is very fine, plays around on the wards, plays video games a lot and is a very cheerful and smart kid. As per the wound, the drs were still around dis morning to inspect and I heard them talking about good progress and, there is no smell o. That I am sure of. I will send to ur email pics I took of the boy this evening on the ward. Also visit the ward every morning. They might not stay long, but they come.

Stella, the usmsn danfodio hospital in kano is very good. And they treat a lot cheaper than these hospitals in Lagos, even more sever cases. Is it posfibke the boy is moved there?
as for doctors daughters calling Stella out- if it were your own child lying there with little or no help and you are handicapped as per finances, what would u do? See, whatever this man does out of anger and frustration, he should be pardoned. Your dad sgiukd release a statement explaining the situation. If your dad was practicing abroad would hv called to fight the battle for him? And you are women!! That's very distasteful. I'm disappointed.
All apologies can be rendered later, but God knows if I were a doctor supervising this case I would treat this child for free.

    3. Stella, I have an update as promised.

The boy's father called me this evening to update me on the situation. He sounded much relaxed and happier because he has been able to resolve issues with the consultant and a few superiors at the hospital.

He narrated that in a meeting that they held earlier today, which had a few media houses present, and his lawyer, that the hospital staff wanted to correct the impression that was published on this blog yesterday, about how they had abandoned the boy.

Mr Abraham, the boys father, explained to me that his frustration was that the hospital was beginning to frustrate the efforts of the Lagos state Gov, whom he said within an hour of learning of his plight on this blog, swung to action and delegated people to help him. And that he had to speak out yesterday, so that the general public is aware that the lagos state govt had done their bit, but that the hospital staff were not forthcoming, but were frustrating the efforts of everyone.

They however resolved issues on a round table discussion today, and according to the boy's father, the consultant and the rest have promised him that all would be well and that he can come to them at any time if need be. He also said the entire hospital has been informed that they be given priority throughout.

He also informed me that tomorrow he'll be on air to grant an interview with a TV station (can't remember which) to discuss his son's development. He didn't end the call without asking that I thank the general public and Sdkers profusely for showing their support in kind and cash. He particularly sent a word of prayer to Stella, as well as the lagos state governor Fashola, for their continuous support towards his family. He however asked that we all pray for them that all will be well with the little boy.

I choose to remain anonymous. Though a regular here.

  53. OMG! no now! nooo! this just demoralized me.

MEMO TO THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNEMENT,

    Dear Dr Babatunde Raji Fashola,

    Greetings to you your excellency.
I will keep thus memo short and to the point.

I beg you sir, please see to the total medical care of Omonigho Abraham.

Sir, it is not too much for the Lagos state Government to sponsor Omonigho abroad on health reasons which at this point has become an SOS call.

Please, let us not take glory based on publicity of our intended help which we never rendered.

Sir, you are the best governor IN Nigeria at least on my own ratings. Please do not let me down as I plead for your government to save the life of this boy.

I look at the picture of him crying with his head opened with deep sores and my heart breaks, my eyes welled up in tears. I am a mother and I can imagine the pain to see a child so helpless and in so much pain.

Dear Amiable Governor, let us not allow such a bright looking child filled with life and a beautiful future waste away.

This is the time we have to act to restore Omonigho Abraham back to good shape. Let us do so ASAP.
    I beg of you sir.

God bless you. I look forward to your speedy response.

Oh God...please have mercy on this boy and his family.

  56. come o, why do I have a feeling that this man is self serving as if he feels that the world owes him. it seems that he has entered into this blame culture that so many people seem to be adopting. Its a tragedy that his son was attacked and its a big tragedy that his son was hurt in this way but I am reading this and thinking, this man appears to be quite self serving. At the end of the day its your son mate. I just hope he hasnt seen this as a a "get rich quick scheme" as a lot of people seem to capitalise on a situation which it appears is what he is trying to do. Haba kilode. I don't like his blaming tone of voice biko. No one will see a child and not help especially a child that is hurt like this, it seems to me that this man thinks that people owe him.

  62. Something is wrong with the way news is reported in this country.

Can we please have the name and address of the owners of the dogs. Nigerians love to own dogs with exotic traits but fail to train them completely.

People please the real culprit is the owner of the dogs. He/she should be left in a cage with his unfed dogs until they get starved and feed on him/her.

I think if the hospital has not being helping since september 25th, the child would be dead by now from infection.

Let us stop fighting and coordinate to get the full story. This ranting at each other serves no purpose.
