  3. This won't go down well with a lot of people but I'm beginning to detest the way people have been throwing the word depressed around. Ffs, save for a few people, what in God's name are u going through that people have not gone through and survived??? Why are people mocking God. Is a lifetime in hell better than facing whatever situation u are going through.

And pls, there's a different between being sad or down or being depressed.

I am just tired of the many people claiming depressed cos they are broke or cos a guy left them etc

Who hasn't been through all of these ehn??? Who hasn't???

Was Moyo also depressed when she was acting Husbands of Lagos???

    2. That's why we are human, we react differently to issues. Not everybody has the same strength.remember the song "lean on me,when u are not strong, I will Help u to carry on". Let's encourage those who are not strong a us to carry on.

    3. Eka Joy, sweetie, I understand your grouse and I know a lot of people use the term "depression" indiscriminately and some, without incident, but you have to understand that depression is an affliction of the mind and we all have different thresholds for pain or adversity.‎

They are some people who are super fragile mentally and are more susceptible to fall into depression than others.‎ So, yes, you may bounce back from being dumped by your Boo within a couple of months but some susceptible to depression may slit her wrist, especially if she held on to her Boo as the source of her joy. It is very possible for Moyo to be battling depression while active on set. After all, the king of comedy himself, Robin Williams(God rest his soul) who brought so much joy and laughter to millions of people, was battling depression unbeknownst to his fans. Imagine the rude shock we felt when the news broke that he killed himself! Isn't it weird that a lot of comedians have opened up about how alone and depressed they feel when the cameras stop rolling?

True, being sad and being down may not necessarily be depression but it can lead to depression. It's not about the gravity of the adversity but it's about how each individual reacts to it. One of the most eclectic designers of our time, Alexander McQueen, committed suicide because he couldn't cope with the death of his mum and the fact that his dog had terminal cancer. He had been struggling with depression due to childhood sexual abuse but nobody knew. I know a young lady who lost both parents within a month but she was able to deal with such a horrendous loss. Honey, some people become sad and moody when they are broke but they hold on and keep hoping for better days, but there are others who will want to end it all because they can't cope with the humiliation of being broke and at the mercies of others. People react differently to adversities.

I know some people take undue advantage of the help and attention people who claim to be depressed get, and say they are depressed too, but the irony is, a lot of depressed people don't even realise that they are depressed. Some lash out at people unnecessarily and are very bitter, after all "hurt people, hurt people" and "that you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you." Just count yourself lucky and thank God that you are a strong lady and you don't have mental health issues.

  10. The current hardship in Nigeria has resulted in increased depression therefore the risk of suicide is high. But this is not an ordinary depression, this depression comes from people feeling they are not mobile economically, and that they are actually experiencing retrogression from where they have been able to get to. That is a loss of everything they have worked so hard to attain. This is the most davasting type of depression. Just when you think you are not going back to where you came from, an ill wind blows for a minute and you are at much lower place than where you started from. I will like to add that depression knows no colour or race, if you've never been depressed before just don't judge those that going through a rough part. N/B Not all depressed people needs money or pity.

Next time u feel that way pack ur bags and go to one of the hospitals and stay, help widows and orphans do charity. Don't stay in ur mansion watch kuwtk and be feeling bad. Rubbish.
