
The House disclosed this in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Matthew Okache.
According to the statement, the suspension was carried out in accordance with Section 14(3) of the Cross River State Local Government Law.
The statement in part reads: “In a resolution passed on the floor of the House, the Assembly directed that Hon. Theresa Ushie step aside for 90 days to allow for an independent investigation into the allegations without interference.
It further stated that the Vice Chairman of Bekwarra LG, Egbung Odama, was directed to immediately assume office as Acting Chairman for the duration of the suspension.
