The Director-General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo has directed that all phones and other electronic devices must be switched off during critical stages of flights. The NCAA DG also directed all domestic airline operators to amend their operations manuals to reflect the new directive and submit them for immediate approval.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged a Federal High Court in Abuja against granting bail to the five men being prosecuted over their alleged involvement in the June 5, 2022 attack at St. Francs Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State in view of their alleged link with foreign terrorist groups. The DSS, in a counter-affidavit to the defendants’ bail application, also raised concern about their capacity to interfere with prosecution’s witnesses if granted bail.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, yesterday, declared that the 2027 presidential ambition of former Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, is dead on arrival insisting that Amaechi would be the last person considered for the ADC ticket. He also alleged that former Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Babachir Lawal, is angry with President Bola Tinubu because he was not chosen as vice president.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the temporary freezing of four Jaiz Bank accounts linked to the immediate-past Group Managing Director, GMD, of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mr Mele Kyari, over alleged fraud. The trial Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite made the order, on Tuesday after counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, moved an ex-parte motion to the effect.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has grilled senior officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, over allegations of fraud and mismanagement during the 2025 Hajj operations. Those questioned include Aliu Abdulrazak, Commissioner of Policy, Personnel and Finance, PPMF, and Aminu Muhammed, Director of Finance and Accounts, DFA.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has dismissed the presidential bid of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Reacting to Amaechi’s claims that he knows President Bola Tinubu’s weakness, Wike said his presidential bid is “dead on arrival.”
Wike who was guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today said Amaechi knows he cannot secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Women from the Ilaje community in Lagos State have threatened to embark on nude demonstrations to protest what they described as the persistent destruction of their ancestral settlements.
On Tuesday, despite heavy rainfall, hundreds of protesters under the banner of Egbe Omo Ilaje marched to the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikeja, calling on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa to intervene urgently.
