Kanu told the court that he would be representing himself for now, though that might change later. When the judge asked if he should be assigned a lawyer, he declined the offer.
Defending himself orally, Kanu argued that the court lacked the jurisdiction to try him.

Best decision ever made. On other news, he had summoned 23 witness to enter his defence. This is a plan B that will shake the very fabric of the Nigerian foundation.

“I Am Defending Myself Because My Lawyers Are Too Afraid to Mention Names, I Will Say It Live Here in the Courtroom!”
Delete“When I’m Done With Nigeria, Then I Can Die in Peace” — Nnamdi Kanu Declares, — Turns Court Into a Battlefield, Vows to Expose Hidden Truths That Will Shake the Nation to Its Core
Nnamdi Kanu defending himself in court is the boldest and riskiest move Nigeria has ever witnessed since its creation. Have you ever heard that man speak on the radio before? He calls names that most lawyers are too afraid to mention and blasts everything without fear or filter. Now that he’s standing alone in court, it’s a storm waiting to happen — because he’s not a lawyer, you can’t hold him back with legal boundaries. Nnamdi Kanu keeps outplaying Nigeria, step by step.
“Kanu defending himself is deeper than people think,” said a source close to the case. “His lawyers didn’t just step aside — there’s serious tension about what might be revealed in court. He wants to speak for himself, mention names like Wike, Sanwo-Olu, and Buratai, and uncover hidden truths that could shake the foundation of the nation. It’s dangerous, but it shows he’s done with being filtered. He wants the truth raw, straight, and loud.”
Observers say this case has gone beyond legal arguments — it’s now a battle of truth versus power, courage versus fear.
“When I’m done with Nigeria in this court case, then I can die in peace,” Kanu reportedly said, sending shockwaves through both his supporters and his enemies.

I've since known that Nnamdi Kanu is suffering from hype megalomania. It's a mental health issue and needs therapy.
DeleteSomeone who never studied law, nor went to a law school feels he can defend himself in these serious charges.. Better than Agabi SAN, former Attorney General and other senior lawyers that accompany him to court.
The guy is sick!
I dey laugh in Latin..
Which nonsense hidden truths ?? This Nnamdi Cownu felon has started exhibiting serious signs of schizophrenia and grand delusions !
DeleteThe whole thing is frustrating.
DeleteMay God help NK. He doesn't understand what his lawyers are doing.

DeleteElochukwu Ohagi has this to say.
Their absence in court, after being summoned as witnesses by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, will still work in his favor for several reasons:
1. Legal Implication of Refusal to Testify:
When witnesses—especially key figures like former governors, army chiefs, or defence officials—are summoned and they refuse to appear, it weakens the prosecution’s case. It shows they are either hiding something or afraid of being cross-examined under oath. In law, that refusal can be interpreted as withholding evidence or avoiding accountability, which casts doubt on the integrity of the government’s position.
2. Moral and Public Perception:
Their failure to appear sends a strong message to the public and the international community that the people who played roles in the events surrounding Kanu’s arrest and prosecution are not confident enough to face open questioning. It exposes the inconsistency and hypocrisy of those in power, even without them speaking a word.
3. Strategic Win for IPOB:
IPOB and its supporters can use their absence to argue that Kanu’s case is politically motivated rather than based on genuine national security concerns. It becomes a moral victory that strengthens his narrative of truth versus corruption and intimidation.
4. Judicial Consequence:
In some cases, if witnesses repeatedly refuse to appear, the defense can ask the court to strike out parts of the prosecution’s evidence that depend on their testimony, or to infer that their evidence would have been unfavorable to the prosecution.
So, whether they appear and get exposed under cross-examination, or they refuse and expose their fear—either outcome helps Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and strengthens the IPOB cause.

Thank you TJ,
DeleteThis for sure is a wise decision.
1. The prosecutor has linked Nnamdi Kanu as a mastermind of the End-Sars protest.
While the report of End-Sars protest Judicial Panel of Inquire never linked Nnamdi Kanu to the protest.
Sanwo-Olu is listed to come and testify to the End-Sars report, given that the panel was constituted by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
2. On the part of Danjuma, Kanu is also accussed of setting up a security formation (ESN) without legal backing. Danjuma was a top security personnel in one of the government security agencies. Due to the persistent kills across Nigeria, he has once asked communities to defend themselves against insecurity. That government alone cannot do all. In his video he didn't mention whether communities need any form of approval from government to have a formation to defend themselves against insecurity. This must have been one of the bases that made Nnamdi Kanu to mobilize community members to form ESN inorder to defend their communities against insecurity.
Hence, Danjuma need to appear in court to affirm his directives as evidenced in a video published by known media.
3. Malami's part is very sensitive as it boarders on how Nnamdi Kanu was repatriated from Kenya to Nigeria. Which the process is against the international treaty Nigeria signed. Malami served as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation under Buhari.
4. They said he jumped bail, Burutai will explain to the court why he ordered the army to attack him MNK in his house leading to the death of over 25 persons, which lead MNK to flee and run for his life.
5. Wike will explain the obigbo massacre.
I think the list is cool to make a good defence.
But the question is, are these people willing to present themselves to the court.
In Nigerian justice system
If someone refuses to appear in court after being subpoenaed, they can face serious consequences, including¹ ² ³:
- *Contempt of Court*: The court can hold them in contempt, which may result in fines, imprisonment, or other sanctions.
- *Arrest Warrant*: The court can issue a warrant for their arrest to secure their attendance.
- *Prevention from Giving Evidence*: They may be prevented from giving evidence in the case.
- *Adverse Findings*: The court may make adverse findings against them.
The consequences are quite severe, so it's essential to comply with a subpoena or seek legal advice if there are concerns about appearing in court.?
Nnamdi Cownu finally exhibiting advanced symptoms of irreversible brain damage !
