His death was confirmed on Saturday morning by former team mate teammate Segun Odegbami, who revealed that Nwosu died at 4:00 am at LASUTH, Ikeja, after days in intensive care.
Nwosu, fondly called “Youngest Millionaire,” was the youngest member of Nigeria’s 1980 AFCON-winning squad and played a key role in the country’s first continental triumph. After retiring, he continued to contribute to Nigerian football as a coach and mentor.
