Health Workers Begin 3 Day Warning Strike At FMC Abeokuta After Staff Stabbing
Health workers at the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, including nurses, medical laboratory scientists and non academic staff, have begun a three day warning strike after a violent attack on one of their colleagues.
Mr Lawal Olasunkanmi, a medical laboratory scientist at the hospital, was reportedly stabbed on Sunday night by a patient’s relative. The incident triggered immediate outrage among staff, who say violence against health workers has become too frequent and must be addressed urgently. By Monday morning, workers withdrew their services, insisting the strike is to demand better security, protection and accountability for the attack.
