World Glaucoma Week 2015

Ophtalmolgical Society of Nigeria (OSN), Delta State Chapter pays courtesy call on Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as they begins 2015 World Glaucoma Week, offers free Glaucoma check-up.

The Ophtalmologists checking governor Uduaghan's eyes.

I think they should also have broadcasted in the media their free screening,so many people need their services but cannot afford it.....

  2. Prolly it was announced there in Delta state. When you get checked, will they help you out if you're diagnosed with the ailment?

  3. Isn't glaucoma a disease associated wv raised intraoccular pressure?

The device being used on gov udaugan looks nothing like a tonometry or a gonioscpe

Toor what do i know, might prolly be a latest invention afterall u can't be testing d gov wv an ordinary instrument

    1. It's called a tonometer. There are different types of tonometers. The one being used on the governor is an air puff tonometer. It doesn't require contact with the eye and reduces the spread of infections .
And Stella, it's Ophthalmologist not orphtalmologist.

    2. It's a pulseair tonometer( non contact). Thank me later, meanwhile on in house news the other day, the lady with the failing eye probably has retinitis pigmentosa ( night blindness), reduces vision to tunnel vision. Probably need low vision devices optical and non optical. She shld see an optometrist who specialises in low vision. Outta the country or I cld have helped

    3. Glaucoma is not necessarily raised intraocular pressure....its d irreversible damage of d nerves n it's diagnosis is made based on d xtent of irregularity in d optic disc....so dy hv chk d bk of d eye wit an ophthalmoscope to see d optic disc to mk a diagnosis.....increased intraocular pressure is one of d symptoms but it's absence doesn't necessarily mean one is glaucoma free....glaucoma is a cause irreversible blindness n it's a silent causer whc is y one needs to go for dse screenings from time to time most esp if one has a family history......cheers

  12. T.M. Spice, it's just out of courtesy that they flagged off their visit by checking Governor Uduaghan's. Certainly they will also check for the poor free of charge before they leave.
