      Traffic was organised like this everywhere in Nigeria, even in small towns and villages. We still had the influence of the colonists in us. Things changed for the worse when we started doing things the NIGERIAN way.

    It's prolly one person that started the chaos on the road, when he wasn't cautioned then another decided to try his luck. You Nigerians and follow follow, copy copy. Dem full this blog sef with absolutely no opinion of their own, anything stella say i agree. As if they stamp follow follow for their fore head. Soon Stella's blog will be like our Lagos roads. Nothing but CHAO.

    And I remember my uncle once told me that back then in Lagos, cars were allowed out on certain days according to the alphabet registration on the plate numbers. Something like, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays,cars with AZ or whatever were the only ones allowed out. While on other days another alphabet took turn to come out. He said it was to reduce congestion of some sort. Anyone else heard this before?

      Mrs Zulu dear,
      What I remember my dad told me was that they did odd and even plate numbers.
      On certain days of the week, cars that end (abi start) with odd numbers were allowed, then other days it's cars with odd numbers that were allowed.
      That's how they managed the cars/traffic those days.
      So if you had two cars then, make sure one is even number and the other is odd number so you can be able to drive daily.

    This is what all Nigerians should be demanding from the New Government, the era of expending roads when traffic becomes heavy has passed, lets build bicycle lanes from existing roads and develop policies that promote non-motorized transport above the car centric model of transportation that has taking over the landscape.
