Ondo State Deputy Governor Impeached!

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has been impeached this morning.

Members of the  Ondo state House of Assembly this morning concluded the impeachment of the state's deputy governor over purported allegations of gross misconduct.

According to Sahara Reporters, the Majority Leader of house of assembly, ‎Ifedayo Akinsoyinu moved the motion for the impeachment of the deputy governor during an early morning sitting on Monday and the motion was swiftly seconded by the Deputy Majority leader of the Assembly, Oyebo Aladatan.

The House claimed Olanusi violated section 188 (9) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.

The panel headed by Retired Chief Magistrate, Olatunde Stanley Adeniyan found Alhaji Olanusi culpable of the seven offences levelled against him.

Twenty-two members of the Assembly unanimously supported the impeachment and subsequent removal of the Deputy Governor for alleged gross misconduct.

Speaking shortly after the impeachment, the Speaker of the Assembly ordered that all properties in the care of the Deputy Governor be handed over to the Permanent Secretary at the office of the Deputy Governor.

It would be recalled that Alhaji Olanusi decamped to the All Progressives Congress party during the recently concluded general elections in Nigeria.

  6. He should have resigned after decamping, it makes no sense you and your principal belonging to different political parties; more like conflicting ideologies (if there's such thing in naija politics).

    1. There is nothing wrong in two policitians belonging to different parties. The prime minister and his deputy do not belong to the same party. Most cabinet ministers do no belong to the same party, only maybe in naija politics must u belong together in other to work well. U don't have to have to be of the same party to govern the state properly.

    2. This is quite different because they entered into Ondo state as a package, as one. It was during the course of their governance that they split. So it's expected that there'll be conflict of interests, which hitherto was not the case.
