Niger Delta Group Alleges That Buhari Wants To Imprison Jonathan..

A civil rights organisation, Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, has on Saturdayraised the alarm over alleged moves by President Muhammadu Buhari to “investigate, malign and imprison” ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on trumped-up charges.

The group accused the President and his All Progressives Congress-led administration of anti-Niger Delta tendencies.

The group referred to the ongoing controversy between the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole over Excess Crude Account and allegations as a ploy to get at former President Goodluck Jonathan.

But the Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Mr. Femi Adesina, described the allegation by the group as mere speculation.

Adesina asked why people would dwell on speculations when nothing concrete has been established against former President Jonathan.

The spokesperson of VND, Mr. Osaghae Ogiemudia, in a statement obtained by SUNDAY PUNCH in Abuja, also claimed that anti-Niger Delta and anti-Ijaw posturing of the APC-led government of Buhari has been demonstrated in several ways.

He said, “We the members of the Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, are aware of some clandestine moves made by the APC-led government to probe, investigate, malign and imprison ex-President Jonathan. We are already aware of the trumped-up charges the APC government is levelling against a man who has diligently served the Nigerian state at the highest level of government.

“The APC led government should take notice that the appointments made so far are skewed in favour of the North, as no Ijaw man has been appointed. While an Ijaw President did not discriminate in appointment, President Buhari is implementing a Northern agenda thorough some of the appointments.”

According to him, Buhari unilaterally cancelled the waterway surveillance and security contract awarded to the Delta-born Ijaw businessman, Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo.)

The group also criticised the sacking of the Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi and described it as “one of the principal appointments given to the Ijaws of Bayelsa State.”

  7. Stella, you should have concrete evidence ie audio, video, bank statements etc, before you can conclude that someone is a thief.
The person you think is a thief might turn out to be innocent.
For example, during Shagari 's govt., contrary to what the northerners said, Alex Ekwueme left govt poorer than he entered it.
Don't be deceived by the Sahara Reporters, premium times and The Punch.

  26. Crying babies, i get upset when i read post from this kind of individuals that come out as civil right group truly speaking you guys are doing bad job and should not be regarded.
I am yet to see most of you fighting for the common Niger delta boy even with all the oil well most of your communities are still deprived.
Some group of people who benefitted from the rot created past by administration will come up with group fighting for their so called son. If Jonathan is found wanting is he above the law? because he is a south south son his administration should not be looked into right? What a SHAME. Why don't you guys allow the current government to do their job what most of you forget to understand is that even the so called Buhari government will be investigated if they leave office so why crying when your so called son is yet to be questioned. Everything in our country is either sectionalised/tribalised. If Jonathan government is truly investigated and also found guilty the current government will arrest him and prosecute him and none of you will do shit as NO ONE is above the law. Jonathan administration had the opportunity to investigate and prosecute Yar Adua's men who looted Nigeria during his dying days even his wife but due to his fear fear attitude he let them go with our billion people like Mike Aondoakaa,Abba Ruma, Shamaudeen Usman and others are still enjoying our loot. Don't think PMB will follow same as Jona was our past fresh leader is just normal to start with him.
Most of the so called civil society group enjoy our common wealth with politicians when your friends are being questioned you come up with useless group calling yourself civil organisation. There are a lot of former militant boys in Igbinedion university their schools fees/up-keep are yet to be paid and also some in Asia and Europe who can't meet up their fees channel your energy into helping those boys and girls and let the government work.
There are a lot of Niger delta parents who can't afford daily bread but same president from your region couldn't create a good atmosphere for them to live decently he couldn't even build an airport at Bayelsa state or even rebuild federal airport in River state but was busy chasing Amaechi while using same dead PH airport when travelling to his home state.

    3. I wish I could hug you! No one is above the law! If an ordinary man steals a loaf of bread he'll be lynched, but Jonathan shouldn't because he was a president? Even Buhari's administration should be probed when it comes to an end, and if he's found wanting, he and GEJ can be bunk mates in jail. We need to stop making excuses for our leaders and stop being sentimental.

      Delete
  27. Continue........

We had a government who's during their time oil was booming same government cannot translate those lucky time into our lives they rather looted fund and made us broke even fund saved up for rainy days by OBJ was looted. A country were few are rich and many are very poor and hungry. Even in this blog the most hungry/broke ass people are same group supporting Jonathan's regime same man and party who looted their destiny instead of taking their anger to the past president they are here showing off their frustration especially my igbo people my question is why show so much support to someone like him who never transformed your region into Dubai of Africa such attitude baffles me. I know most of you hate anything hausa but such hatred haven't helped us but will rather continue to deprive us our opportunities in the future. We as Nigerians should STOP being sentimental if we need to build a decent country we need to support good governance. If our dear Christian former president did things rightly as first Niger delta president many of us will support him after all am not a muslim I just want good governance and decent society as people like us will not support mediocrity. Some said yesterday OBJ should "shut up" "stupid man" bla bla bla but forgetting that same OBJ as of today is Nigeria BEST PRESIDENT yes you can argue such but he did a lot more than any other president in our history you can call him daughter "inlaw's fucker" that means for a man of his age to sleep with educated daughter inlaw without rape story he's got swag than most of you.
Let us call a spade a spade as Nigeria can't progress with the kind of attitude and ignorance some showcase here. Everything shouldn't be because the person is your tribe that's nonsense treat peoples case individually as none of those have any tribal passport but Nigeria.
Happy Sunday to everyone and i hope the bitter once among us pray against spirit of bitterness at church or home today.

  29. What do mean GEJ let go of power for peace to reign. Nigerians voted him out, Nigerians voted for someone else to make their lives better, so what the hell are you talking about. In a democracy, what do you think happens. Must you comment? If you are an illiterate or a house girl whom her oga has given mobile phone, do not comment on issues your brain cannot comprehend. Just listen to yourself "GEJ let go of power for peace to reign" he should have stayed there, you think if he refused to leave we will be having this conversation now?. Nigeria will be in turmoil, GEJ left because he lost the elections which is what democracy is about and if he had chosen to remain there by force, he would been hunted down and lynched period.

    1. Don't mind those who are taking his total surrender of Jonathan as a privilege. Nigerians hail people even when they are doing the job they were hired to do.. heck.. he did the right thing. Yes we can applaud him for not constituting a nuisance, which could have ONLY DELAYED the smooth transition, but he couldn't have stopped it. No matter what, Jonathan would have left that seat whether he did it willingly or with force. We should get over the unnecessary hyping of his acceptance to bow out. He had no choice gademnit
