He said Igboho failed to listen to the president’s warning due to wrong advice from people and that Igboho won’t be facing the current travail, if he had listened to the warning.
The monarch made the revelation in an interview with BBC Yoruba.
Ooni of Ife said rather than listen to the caution, Igboho hurled insults on traditional rulers.
“Many people advised him wrongly. He listened to them. He started abusing everyone, including monarchs.
“After I left President Buhari’s place, I called on monarchs and elders of Yoruba land for a meeting to advise Igboho to exercise patience but he got carried away by the praises of those who were not even solidly behind him.
“He hurled so many bad words but he is still our son. God owns forgiveness. We’ve forgiven him. If he had listened, he wouldn’t have found himself in his current travail,” he said.
Igboho is locked up in Benin Republic after his attempt to travel to Germany was foiled.
He had fled Nigeria to Cotonou, where he was arrested and locked up.
The agitator and his wife left Nigeria, after the Department of State Services, DSS, declared him wanted, over guns found in his house.

May God see Egbon Sunday Igboho through... Amen
Which Igboho is our brother? We don't want a tout and a rascal to bring chaos to Yorubaland. Also, he is not even worthy to be a ruler. Let him rot in jail as a way of paying for his previous sins. Igboho ko igbogbo ni

DeleteSucceed where? Igboho is not the right person for a thing like this, not after being used by the late Adedibu to wreck havoc in Ibadan then, He also has blood on his hands from the Modakeke(dunno if I got the name right)crisis. Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu re not right for the positions they are occupying.
He also worked with former governor of Oyo in favor of the sitting Oyo state governor, I guess his fallout with Makinde made him turn repackage himself to human rights activist òjìji.
DeleteThis is what happens when sycophants and self-indulged individuals are appointed into power. You see all these so called Yoruba Obas are not there to serve any one but their pockets. Sunday Ighoho might not be perfect but he was trying to keep Fulani men off his community, and possibly see a better Western Nigeria, which all our leaders have destroyed by their greed. Shouldn't they be looking for a way to get him out to his family instead of them to be saying gibberish? For everyone who has destroyed Nigeria's future in one way or the other, just let me reserve my comment because I must.

DeleteHe should have remain focus on that fight instead of turning it to secession of Yoruba which no he didn't get peoples opinion if what they want is secession.
DeleteFFK was on of the people supporting him and selling him.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I've learned in this Naija is, dont ever relie on anyone to get you out of trouble because no matter the kind of support you get, once you are in trouble, just know that you are ON YOUR OWN (OYO).
